UST Medical Alumni Association

USTMAA through USTMAA Palawan and the USTH Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology had a free cervical cancer and breast cancer screening medical mission at the Narra Municipal Hospital Narra, Palawan on April 19, 2023.

Entitled GO GIRL ( Ganda Outside Ganda Inside: Redefining Living) 3.0 sa Narra, 151 women of Narra Palawan underwent clinical breast exam and visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) for breast and cervical cancer screening tests. Yhe team was composed of the USTH OB-Gyn consultants Dr Ma. Lourdes Coloma (1975), Dr. Jocelyn Z. Mariano (1989), OB Gyn residents Drs Criselda Sarile and Denden Destura (2021) and Dr Janssen Hinlo (2004), graduate USTH OBGYn resident ( practicing in Brookes Point Palawan) They were also joined by Dr Evelyn Funelas ( practicing OB Gyn in Puerto Princesa, wife of Dr Nic Funelas Class 1985) and Dr Cristine Paredes OB Gyn of Narra Municipal Hospital. The team was welcomed by Narra Mayor Gerandy Danao and Vice Mayor Marcelino Calso Jr.

The project was conducted in collaboration with the Philippine Society for Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy, Socciety of Gynecologic Oncologists and the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecologic Society Southern Tagalog Chapter.

GO GIRL is on its third swing with its first mission in Marikina in 2018 ( in collaboration with tbe Manila Science High School, Alpha Delta Mu Sorority , streets to Schoools and Rotary Club of Marikina) Gawad Kalinga Angat Bulacan in 2021 ( with Streets to Schools, Alpha Delta Mu Sorority, USTMAA Bulacan Chapter, UST FMS Class 1989, Youth for Mental Health RJ Naguit)

The OB Gyn Team was treated to a sumptuous dinner at Kinabuch Restaurant in Puerto Princesa by Dr Jesus Ong ( 1994- ophthalmologist, organizer of USTMAA Palawan) and the Thomasian doctors of Palawan.
