Do you feel like doing some writing today as we wait for the Tropical Storm to leave our area? You can do it on your own or with the young people in your home? Let's do a little exercise to get our creative juices flowing.

Let's create a character

A young person is stuck at home, because there’s a storm in the area.

Using not less than five complete sentences, describe the person’s body from head to toes.
Using not less than five complete sentences, describe the clothes that the person is wearing.
Using not less than five complete sentences, describe how the person is feeling.
Using not less than five complete sentences, tell us a few other things that we need to know about this person. (things they like/dislike .. anything)

Using not less than five complete sentences, describe the room or building that the person is in.
Using not less than five complete sentences, describe what the person can see when they look outside.

After you have completed that, write a short story (at least three paragraphs) based on what the dog, who is also stuck in the house with the young person, is seeing and thinking about their situation. You are writing your story, using the dog’s voice.
