By capitalising on Instagram’s new updates, you put yourself at an advantage. Instead of complaining and staying stagnant, it is important that we evolve in order to grow and move forwards.
Whether it be taking the time to plan and create more original content or identifying keywords that describe your content or not being afraid to experiment; implementing these tips will put you in a better position for Instagram to push your content out to your audience on Instagram
I’d be surprised if you told me you hadn’t noticed all the changes Instagram has been making to its feed and algorithm. Here are some tips on how you can make the best of these new updates for your business or personal brand
Not all change is bad, and although you may not like all the updates Instagram is bringing, this doesn’t negate the importance of it as a platform for you to communicate to your audience. The real question is, how can you capitalise on your audience in order to continue to engage and communicate with them in a way that adds value
In order to properly move forward, you have to have properly closed the chapter on the year 2020. You do this by being reflective but in a positive and constructive way; that means being proud of what you’ve been able to achieve, celebrating how far you’ve come and identifying what could be done better for the future
Have you taken the time to be self-reflective over 2020?
I know it’s a little late but I’ve been on a bit of a break from socials and have taken the time to reflect on 2020 and plan for 2021 and most of all take a break. A new year does mean new beginnings but new beginnings can only truly occur when you take the time to stop and reflect and from that realign yourself for the future. The reason for new beginnings is so that you can be in a better position to achieve new goals. Goals setting isn’t just about defining the end, it’s also about creating for yourself a plan of attack to get you from where you are to where you want to be.
Anyways let me not blab on, I have many posts ahead to talk to you.
My overarching goal and word for this year is CONSISTENCY. I’d love to hear what you have planned for the year ahead? Let me know in the comments
To win you have to play by the rules
I’m not saying jump on EVERY trend or that you have to use EVERY feature Instagram offers at this very moment - because let’s be real, I don’t do that either 😅
HOWEVER, in taking your brand and account page seriously, you need make the active effort to educate yourself on how the platform is changing and identify how these changes apply to you.
Just in case it wasn’t already clear, Instagram favours those that use its features
For example, Instagram has its own shop and now allows you to purchase in-app. If you sell a product have you optimised your page for your customers to do this?

Likes show the least engagement from your audience.
Yes, it does help show that someone supports/likes your content however that’s all it does.
These are the things it doesn’t tell you:
• what they like about your content
• If they have any follow up questions
• If it’s something they’d like to return to later
• That they feel it reflects them personally
• That they want to share it with their friends and/or family
• That they want to purchase what you have recommended
The other engagement metrics: Comments, Shares and Saves can help you answer these questions and as a result learn much more about your customer.
So what am I saying? Take your likes with a pinch of salt and don’t base post success on this metric alone.
Would love to know your thoughts, Do you agree?
Make the time and effort to get to know both your audience and your niche. You can tell when people know what they are talking about...and when they don’t 😖🤧🥴
Especially with the current climate, take the time to sit down and talk with you audience to answer their questions. Q&As are a great way to show that you know exactly what you are talking about!

Yesterday our second Lockdown in the U.K. began, so I thought it would be useful to give a few bullet points on what we as a community had learnt from the last lockdown. It’s important that we take the time to reflect and learn from our past experiences and the past experiences of others so that we ourselves can move forward. THIS IS NOT THE END and WE WILL GET THROUGH THIS.

Give your audience something they can attain to. Share your story, share your experiences, share your journey. Inspiration doesn’t have to be something overly big or a gigantic milestone, it can be as simple as achieving a monthly goal, sharing a client testimonial, resharing an inspirational quote.
An easy way to do this for yourself is to look at the accounts you look up to and use them to inspire you to create inspirational content for your followers
Let’s give credit where credit is due, COMMENT below the businesses you follow that inspire you and nominate them to do the same

You are an expert. I want you to say it a loud to yourself “I AM AN EXPERT”. You may not feel like it, but the fact is that you know things other don’t, and that on it’s own provides you with the opportunity to educate someone else. As a business or personal brand your aim should be to educate your audience on your chosen topic/niche of choice - be specific, be detailed. You’d be surprised how much more you know on your topic/niche simply because you enjoy it and therefore make an active effort to learn more about it.
