Join House Rabbit Network at Lowell Humane Society for another round of RHDV-2 initial series & annual booster vaccine clinics! We are excited about this partnership and grateful for LHS for sharing their space while we are under construction (We are opening a low-cost spay & neuter clinic! Find out more here: https://www.rabbitnetwork.org/support/capital-campaign)
If this is your rabbitβs first ever dose of the vaccine β they need to come for their first dose on the 29th and again, 3 weeks later, at our second clinic on Oct. 20th. The RHDV-2 vaccine is a 2-dose series and must be completed to be effective in preventing RHD.
Rabbit Hemorrhaging Disease is spreading into the Northeast and is 100% fatal to both domestic and wild rabbits. RHD can be brought inside to your house rabbits a variety of ways (shoes, clothes, greens, hay) and can stay alive on these surfaces for many weeks.
The RHDV-2 vaccine is 100% effective in eliminating the risk of your rabbit dying from RHD. In clinical studies, the vaccine has proven to be safe in bunnies as young as 8 weeks as well as senior rabbits. Click this link: https://medgenelabs.com/rabbits/ to find out more about RHD and the vaccine from the vaccine manufacturer.
Location β Lowell Humane Society 951 Broadway St, Lowell, MA 01854
Price: $50/vaccine dose. Annual boosters are $50 & the 2-shot initial series is $100.

Help Us Safeguard Our Wild Rabbits! Currently, we're caring for 6 cottontails at our rehab center, victims of lawn mowers, cats, and dogs. If you come across an injured wild rabbit, whether a cottontail or marsh rabbit, remember we're licensed to rehabilitate them! For those not nearby, use the "Animal Help Now" app to find professional assistance for any injured wild animal you encounter.
Love this idea! Happy spring every bun π°πΌ
Do you check your yard for rabbit nests before mowing? Protecting the nest with a laundry basket is an easy way to make sure they donβt accidentally get mowed over, while also offering extra safety from predators. π€π°π€
We stand by this message π«Άβ€οΈ
Rabbits are so misunderstood. They don't get the same recognition like a dog. Would you keep your dog in a tiny cage? Would you keep your dog outside for their whole life away from you? Would you make a bad joke about how someone's dog would make 'great food'? No. So stop doing this to bunnies. They are just as great of a pet as dogs.

Each month, we get several families looking to adopt bunnies from us for their children to use in their local 4H program.
To show in 4H, rabbits cannot be fixed and must have a tattoo in their left ear for identification purposes. These tattoos are done while pinning the rabbit down.
4H is a program for children to raise animals, learn where food comes from, then process their animals after showing what theyβve raised and bred.
Instead of showing children how to properly care for and raise rabbits, theyβre taught how to best keep them for production, meat, and fur purposes. Wire bottom cages, water bottles, typically housed outdoors, etc.
For these reasons, and 4H promoting rabbit care standards significantly lower than we believe in, we do not adopt out to people intending to use their rabbits to show in 4H. Not a single time has a potential 4H adopter presented adequate housing even after taking our course.
Theyβre more than their fur. Theyβre more than their meat.
