Hi! I am Felicity, Founder of The Bush Bundle Inc.
I was born in Central Queensland and enjoyed a few magical years in my small rural hometown before moving to Brisbane. Over the years, I have travelled between city and rural country lands, and I have realised there are big differences in lifestyle. And unfortunately, su***de rates are much higher in rural Australia.
I decided to start The Bush Bundle to simply make a farmer/grazier hundreds or thousands of kilometres away smile.
But from what I hear from Bush Bundle recipients, our Bush Bundles make them feel much more than happiness. They feel seen, they feel remembered, and they are not being ignored.

Now, this topic can be controversial when discussing it with people who live in the city versus those who live in the country.

Yesterday was International Cat Day...
Those living in the suburbs and along the coastline may keep cats as pets that don't go outside and are quite treasured.
Those living in the country may only keep a cat, usually outside, to control vermin on their property.
Either way, they can be useful if they can be kept in and around our homes.

Which one is your favourite?

To be honest, I can leave most sweet things behind, but I do have a weakness for chocolate. So, that may put me more in the savoury camp because I love chips and crackers.

This is a hard one - tea or coffee?

When we lived out west, all I remember was my Mum drinking tea. She still does, even on 40degree summer days 🥵
'Put the billy on' as the saying goes.

We include tea and coffee in our Bush Bundles to cater to both desires.

But we are curious: what do you prefer?

It breaks our hearts to think that anyone feels forgotten. But this is a resounding message we hear here at The Bush Bundle. Farmers, graziers and those living in rural and remote areas of Queensland can feel forgotten and alone.
We want them to know they are appreciated and play an essential part in our daily lives. Their agriculture provides us with food and clothing and keeps our little towns alive. They are, after all, what built our nation.

It never stops for a farmer. Around Australia, they could be spending long hours harvesting winter crops like wheat, barley, and canola, building up their livestock, and planning for the next season, all while looking after children, partners, machinery, and fences. They also have to balance finances and battle the stress of keeping it all together now and into the future. It's a lot.

This tells us that, as an Australian farmer, you have a pretty slim chance of being impacted by a natural disaster within five years, and that could cost you an average, AVERAGE, of $1.4 million! There is so much to recover on so many levels here. No wonder their mental health is at an all-time low.

The survey was conducted by Norco Milk in 2023, and the results were published again by Rural Aid in March 2024.

When travelling or camping around my beautiful home state of Queensland, I deliver Bush Bundles into random farm letterboxes. If I see a letterbox big enough to hold a Bush Bundle, we pull over, and in it goes! I don't know who lives there or their circumstances; it's just about delivering a bundle of goods to offer something nice from people in the city to those living out in the country. It's our mission, after all, to connect city and country, for care and connection.

We love creating connections for people, especially those living in the city who want to connect meaningfully with someone living in the country.

Sometimes the dream of owning your own farm can become a desperate reality. The responsibility of keeping it going as the third-generation farmer, working out how to get through the next drought or flood, keeping the cattle fed and watered, endless time and money spent on equipment and fence repairs, and not a day off in sight. It's tough.

In saying that, farmers can be remarkably resilient; they endure, adapt, and hope.
