What a brilliant idea!

This is a great solution to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 when we all return to work. Staff are protected by this clear screen which shields them from coughes and sneezes.

Prestwich Cares

We will be delivering food parcels on Friday afternoon with Bury Homeless Project. Could you please message the page if you or anyone you know needs some support? If you can donate please drop off at one of the points shown on the post below. The shopping list shows the basic items we need.

I have messaged a range of Prestwich businesses to see if they would consider becoming a drop off point for food donations so we have some closer tot he Prestwich area. Don't forget that Humans MCR are collecting donations at Panana Hatties too. I have also asked the businesses if they would consider printing the form shown below than can be posted to neighbours if you can offer them help. I though this might be useful as not everyone will have the facilities to print these at home. As soon as i know some places around the village that will keep a stash of them for us I will let you know. The leaflets about the shopping service from Kitz4Kidz are also going out this week.

Thanks everyone xx

Stacey, from the Prestwich Cares page, has done a fantastic job of creating awareness around helping the local communities and their most vulnerable during the corona virus outbreak. It’s only going to get worse, so can we all follow her lead and get behind this please!

Let’s all chip in and help as much as we can!

Evening all and welcome to new followers. This is long one but there has been a lot going behind the scenes in in the last 24 hours try to set up practical and sustainable ways to address the issues we face. Here goes...

One of the main groups that will need supporting will be the isolated elderly, but clearly they are the group least likely to see social media. Keeping them safe is going to come down to community spirit. I have attached a leaflet that Kitz4Kidz have created. They will be distributing this locally by hand and in businesses where elderly folk are likely to visit. If you wanted to, you could print copies to have with you and give out to people who might need it, post to neighbours etc. to get the word out.

We have also been in touch with the wonderful Bury Homeless Project. Not only do they support homeless people, but people at risk of homelessness, elderly, low income families etc. They can provide food parcels but are in need of more volunteers over the coming weeks. If you would like to volunteer you can contact this page or the Bury Homeless Project page directly. You can donate items to their food bank stores or donate to their Just Giving page:
https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/buryhomelessproject?utm_term=d8RvgvmYJ&fbclid=IwAR2H3VomaiZ1yqlsvqCyRt8rzNyJojIoiL6xqBdnZ0yqXiYpwlA4EXnKSs8

Their treasurer accounts for every penny spent and ensures it goes to deserving causes. The images attached show drop off points and essential items needed.

Online shopping is obviously a helpful tool if people have the funds and access to the internet, but if people don't need enough to warrant a full shop, they could post to the page and see if anyone is able to drop off some essentials but this would be done at the risk of the parties involved. Also had a link sent via inbox that Deliveroo are no offering an option to deliver essential household items as well as food which may be useful to people .https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/uk-news/deliveroo-new-delivery-service-coronavirus-17910932?fbclid=IwAR1M5ER8Q-r6BZcoyD02LBxF # #

I contacted Tesco Community Champions but as yet haven't heard anything back. Also asked two local doctor's surgeries if they could inform some of their elderly patients about the help available and put some leaflets out and they all but declined the offer for some reason.

Please keep sending your ideas and information it's a big help and thanks so much to the organisations who have got involved so far.

Please share this page to spread this initiative as far as we can! Thank you ☺️

Some new additions to the Kitz4Kidz family! Thank you to for sponsoring Sedgley Park Community Primary School and their new netball kit! Rick is everything we want in a sponsor and helping children in the community is his thing.

Ricks classes in self-defence have helped children and adults of all ages overcome difficult periods in life and now he’s extending his help even further. What can I say, we need more people in the world like Rick.

Prestwich Cares

Everyone needs to be behind this.

Doesn't really feel like we are much further on with a national strategy, but safe to say hearing the PM talk about having to expect to lose people is very chilling.

Check on your neighbours and post to the page on the behalf of anyone who can't access it if you can.

It's not just going to be elderly or those with existing conditions who need help. If (when) schools do shut there will always be plenty of children who usually get free school meals going without as families struggle to manage.

If anyone has any contacts in local council it would be helpful so that I can try and get some information about strategy at local level.

BBS Window Blinds cover every base when you talk about a business. They provide a service like no other, which is why it’s no surprise when you see them as check-a-trades number one blinds suppliers and fitters in the North-West of England. With a fantastic quality of work being met with very competitive prices, there is no reason why they shouldn’t be the go-to-guys when you need blinds.

Not only that, they help their community as well. It’s no secret that Kitz4Kidz have huge passion for helping issues like Child Obesity and Mental Health awareness for children. When we spoke to Mike and Adam at BBS, we told them our vision of helping the next generation of children, by supplying local schools with brand new sports kits for the pupils. BBS couldn’t wait to get involved. Thanks to them, Butterstile Primary School in Prestwich will now have that extra edge on the pitch when they walk out in their PUMA football kit.

Thanks guys!

Well said!

Remind yourself that comments from a hater are a reflection of them and aren’t really about you. People who feel good about themselves don’t need to put others down. Criticism can be a sign of pain. People sometimes lash out because they have other life struggles. Negative comments may have nothing to do with you.
