Clap For The Wolfman

Clap For The Wolfman

Radio presenter at Hobart FM playing music, mostly from my own personal collection.

24/05/2024

The countdown is well and truly on, it’s less that two hours before my favourite DJ Chris Broadby graces the airwaves on Hobart FM tonight. From 9pm til midnight, I believe CB will be playing many BRITISH classic rock songs from the early-mid ‘70s, definitely a period when there was a plethora of great music to be enjoyed. Tune in and enjoy!

This post is being generated because of an error I made a short time ago. Lesson 101. Never make important decisions or use machinery soon after a medical procedure. 😂 Join me or Wayne Flanagan at Hobart FM tomorrow night from 9pm until midnight.

Can Anybody Play the Drums? (The Who - Cow Palace 1973) 02/05/2024

Evening all! This is an interesting snapshot into life in the 70s. Would probably be handled differently today. 🤘

I can’t believe another month has passed…but like it or lump it, the Wolfman aka Wayne Flanagan returns to Hobart FM tomorrow night, usual time slot 9pm-midnight. It’s theme night again, this time…and apart from one request, it’s songs from the ladies…so don’t get me started on pronouns.🤗

Tom Jones & Seasick Steve You Gotta Move 25/03/2024

What an unusual pairing. Although I’m not a big fan of Tom Jones, he does have a magnificent voice. And Seasick Steve gave us arguably the best song title ever - “I Started Out With Nothing” (And I Still Got Most Of It Left). Enjoy.

A great Aussie pop song from 1981, the video is interspersed with footage from around my hometown, Hobart.

It’s that time again. If the footy isn’t doing it for you, tune into Hobart FM for some reasonably decent music tonight at 9pm, courtesy of the Wolfman.

28/02/2024

Friday, 1st March, 2024. A must hear event! 😂 The Wolfman aka Wayne Flanagan has an extra gig on Hobart FM this week, from 6-9pm, playing songs from just the 60s and 70s.
Of course, that will segue into the regular monthly slot where Chris Broadby aka the Midnight Cowboy, will take you through to 12am, spinning his usual eclectic mix of oldies, newies, and everything in between. Hope to see you then!
🎤🤘😎

15/02/2024

Tomorrow (Friday) is covers night on Hobart FM 96.1 so join me from 9pm til past my bedtime for some familiar songs by familiar artists…but not the ones you’re expecting, nor possibly heard before. 🤘🎤

Well it’s that time of the month again. The Wolfman is making another appearance tomorrow, from 9pm-midnight. Continuing the trend of Hobart FM presenting interesting and varied music for the community, I’ll be hopefully ticking more of those boxes, so tune in…if you dare.

Chris Broadby is firing tonight on Hobart FM ! Paul Kelly, Jethro Tull, the list goes on! 🎤

21/12/2023

The Wolfman returns to Hobart FM tomorrow night! Given the time of year, he’ll be spinning some xmas themed discs, definitely no carols 😱 but some (hopefully) interesting themed music to get you in the mood. From 9pm til midnight if you’re at a loss for something to do. 🤶🎤

07/12/2023

Hobart FM tomorrow night from 9-midnight is the musically incomparable and worldly Chris Broadby. It’s sure to be an entertaining and interesting night of song and music!

24/11/2023

There’s a Telstra outage so Hobart FM 96.1 is only available on radio or digital apparently. 🤗🎤

22/11/2023

No, it can’t be! I reckon his next step will be hosting a late night show on a radio station. Which reminds me, the Wolfman returns to Hobart FM tomorrow night at 9pm. Tune in or not. At your peril. 🎤🪗

I love my music but I’m not sure how I could sleep in one of these rooms. 🤗

Particularly for any Hobart followers of this page, did you know about the existence of the MelRock Music shop in Channel Court Kingston? Andrew has a great range of CD, LP, DVD & Cassette if you’re still into that. He’s a nice, friendly fella and has a great range of music if that floats your boat. I’m not getting paid for this announcement by the way, I just enjoy visiting there.

The Wolfman’s back on Hobart FM this Friday from 9-midnight but I must confess to having quite a traumatic dream last night, and I need to offload. I arrived at the station 20 minutes early for my shift and realised I had not brought any music to play and no supporting notes. There was also about a dozen young people in my studio so I had to move them on. I couldn’t get the monitors to work (remember I had no music anyway). I wanted to go home to grab all my gear but of course, being enveloped in the dream meant I couldn’t really remember how to get there plus it seemed too far. For some reason we put a god awful piece of music on loop while we tried doing goodness know what to solve the problems. After 20 minutes of listening to the Muzak, I woke up. Very tired, but very happy that none of it was true. I’m a little nervous about Friday 😂 but surely dreams don’t really come true. Do they? Join me if you have the nerve!

28/09/2023

For those not yet following Clap For The Wolfman , here’s your chance…and here’s a tip. As a prelude to the excitement of Saturday’s AFL Grand Final, why not have some pre-game fun and tune in to Hobart FM at 9pm tomorrow night for some 60s nostalgia…and a few requests. See you then!

27/09/2023

Time for the Wolfman to hit the airwaves again! This Friday is a special night where I’ll be spinning some of my favourite songs from the 60s, and for a good reason. But you’ll have to tune in to find out the why. 🤔 See you then.

About 1m 15s in, I’m wearing the ‘I love F***y’ t-shirt.

Sunday September 17th. The day my life changed. Well maybe that’s a bit over the top but what a joy it was to meet F***y Lumsden and husband Dan. The band were red hot and if you haven’t heard them, do yourself a favour and check out F***y’s music.

30/08/2023

I’m happy to have lived through that era.

28/08/2023

Friday is the first day of Spring, and the Wolfman returns to Hobart FM for a night of spinning Australian songs, mostly classics but interspersed with some “contemporary” songs. I hope you can join me for a night of Oz, from 9pm til midnight.

09/08/2023

I’m currently reading a book by Dan Lynch (see earlier post) and a comment from him reminded me as to why I enjoy my monthly stints on Hobart FM. I get to play “my music”. Songs that I have in my own collection of LPs, Cassettes and CDs, plus some from my digital library. Dan mentioned a local DJ who basically “complained” that he wasn’t able to accede to his request to play a couple of Golden Earring songs because his playlist was essentially decided for him. Honestly, I couldn’t think of anything less satisfying than just playing music decided by the station. I love being able to share my own musical journey and experiences with people. Having that emotional attachment to the songs is why I do it.

Next month on the 1st September I’ll be playing mostly Australian music, songs which meant something to me at different times in my life. I want to celebrate our rich audio history but also remember special moments relevant to me because of the the song. I hope to see you there. 🤗
