Rainy days are for puppet shows in the new library! 📚☔️Each child in Miss Kristen’s class, designed their own dialogue with a partner! We love to create, explore and perform! 🎪
The rain kept miss Marguerite’s class inside but it didn’t stop the fun! Today they used working pretend sinks for a fun sensory activity! They used their fine motor skills to turn on and off the water and their motor planning skills to transfer water from one cup to another. It was a big hit enjoyed by all!
What happens when it is “Taco Tuesday” and the letter of the week is D.
You read Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin of course. After the story the children had an opportunity to draw their favorite part of the story and tell each other how the feel about tacos 😊
“I like the soft tacos with only cheese and lettuce” Hazel
“I like tacos, I like lettuce, tomatoes and salad in it. That’s how mommy makes it” Anthony
“I like tacos. I like the sauce and cheese, lettuce and olives in mine” Zachary
“I don’t like tacos but I like quesadillas” Wyatt“Yes I like them, I like the cheese in a taco” Beatrix
“Yes I like them. I like the hot sauce, the orange hot sauce. I like chicken and sour cream and a little cheese” Wesley
“No I don’t like tacos” Lily
“I like chicken and tomatoes in my taco and sometimes cheese. Benny loves cheese” Jack
“Yes I really like chicken nugget tacos with lots of cheese and ketchup” Emet

In Miss Avril’s Ready Set Grow 2 class they explored the concept of absorption during the “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” science experiment!
Objective: Children will make predictions and then observe the absorption process of water through paper.
Materials:
Paper towel
Markers
Two cups filled with H20
(The ends of the paper towel are colored with markers in the rainbow design)
Miss Avril’s Question to the group:
“Friends, look at all of these items on the table and tell me your ideas about what is going to happen when we put the ends of the paper towel into the two water cups.”
What the children had to say (hypothesis)
“I think it will definitely make a rainbow on the paper” Hazel
“The colors will play with each other and make it rainbowish and a bit greenish” Emet
“I think it is going to mix up everything together and make a different and new color” Beatrix
“I think all the colors will go down into the water and make the paper pink and make the water into paint” Scarlet
“I think maybe it will make it rainbow on the paper” Zachary
Results: It turns out we have a bunch of little scientists in RSG 2.

Today was an exciting day at ACES International Preschool as we welcomed a very special guest, Dr. Mimi Delessio-Matta from Pediatric Dental Associates of Southbury! Dr. Mimi spent time with our Sunflowers and Ready Set Grow classrooms, sharing valuable insights about dental care and oral hygiene. She even sent the kiddos home with a sticker and a brand new tooth brush! 🦷
She engaged the kiddos with discussions on how to take care of their teeth, the proper way to brush and the importance of choosing healthy foods for strong teeth! 🥕🍅 Not only did Dr. Mimi educate us, but she showed us just how fun and welcoming a trip to the dentist can be!
A big THANK YOU to Dr. Mimi for her time and for making learning about dental health so enjoyable! Fun Fact: Did you know that Dr. Mimi’s three sons were once a part of our school many many years ago!
🎨🖌️ Last night’s art show at ACES International Preschool was a HUGE success! We were thrilled to see so many families show up and support our talented young artists! The school was transformed into a breathtaking gallery, showcasing the incredible artwork created by our students!
A BIG thank you to all the families who attended and made the evening so special. And of course, 🙏🏻a heartfelt shoutout to all our dedicated teachers for their hard work in nurturing the creative talents of our students.
🌟✨👶🏼 Our nursery room is filled with smiles and giggles today! 😀Seeing these little faces light up with joy is truly the highlight of our day.📸
ACES International Preschool will be CLOSED on Tuesday, February 13th, due to the impending snow storm. Thank you and be safe.
Letter of the Week: Ii Literacy and Math Connection
Introduction to Measurement Using the Award-Winning Story "Inch by Inch" by Leo Lionni. This multi-day activity incorporated literature and math concepts in a fun way.
Literacy:
Miss Avril read the story "Inch by Inch" to the children. After the story, the children shared their favorite part of the story with the group. Then, they moved to the table to draw their favorite part of the story.
Math:
Using Unifix Cubes (each cube is one inch), the children had to create different number stacks to represent inches. For example, Miss Avril would say, “Put together a stack of 5 cubes or 5 inches.” Then, the children had to search the room for an item that was the same size as the Unifix stack. As a group, they did this for numbers 1-10 all week. They loved it!
Young children apply the early concepts of measurement in many of their everyday activities. They compare sizes of toys, portions of food, how tall they are compared to a friend, etc.
This activity helps them develop the vocabulary of measurement and comparison, using terms like longer, shorter, taller, bigger, smaller, wider. And then adding the word “inches” into the conversation, which scaffolds a deeper conversation about measurement.
CONTENT AREA: MEASUREMENT
This lesson is a fun way for children to meet the following educational standards:
Using tools for measurement (Unifix Cubes)
Understanding the measurable attributes of objects and processes of measurement
Comparing objects according to their size and scale
Identifying and using the vocabulary of measurement (examples: big, medium, wide, tall, long, etc.)
Last Friday, Miss Bianca introduced her friends to our recently renovated library, where the children engaged in a letter H worksheet activity! ✏️📝✏️📝
Miss Avril's Ready Set Grow class did a super fun science experiment today! It was called "There She Blows"
Science Skills: Children observed objects of different weights, sizes and materials being moved by air.
Children voted individually if they thought each item would move across the table using air. Votes were counted and recorded.
Materials:
• Small hair dryer
• Dice
• Rock
• Stick
• Feather
• Jewel
• Plastic Horse
• Googly Eye
• Eraser
• Wood Slice
After voting the children took turns trying to move the items across the table using a hair dryer.
The Results: 4 items were moved by air and 5 items did not move. The children had a great time!
🎨 Miss Susan’s Buttercups class had a delightful Tuesday treat! One of our little Buttercups had a special visit from mom and dad, and together they created adorable finger-painted hats! 🧢🖌️ the kids had a blast!
