Purity Culture has taught us that to be pure, you must remain a virgin until marriage. Here's the deal: most people (churched or unchurched) are not waiting to have s*x. Let's just be honest about that. The people are having s*x. However, when we really examine God's desire and design for his daughters, waiting to have s*x is only half the battle.

Purity, in its simplest definition, is to be free from contamination. This means we are to abstain from anything that will contaminate us in spirit, soul, and body.

Yes, we should wait for marriage, that's God's desire, but it's not the wholistic reality for many people. So if you didn't wait, it's okay... not okay in the sense that it's okay to continue to do it, but it's okay because there's forgiveness and grace available to you (if you truly want it).

When we strive to chase purity in our hearts, it becomes easier for our bodies to come into alignment with God's desire concerning purity. And that is for us to be pure, whole, and His. 💖
