Congratulations to Captain Cole Ellis and Captain Clay Martin for completing the Dive Rescue Instructor series! They spent the last few years working hard toward this goal, and after finishing a final 10-day rigorous course, they are now certified Dive Rescue 1 Trainers.

We are very proud of their accomplishments and look forward to our bright future as a department! By earning this certificate, they will be able to put on future classes for divers, assist other departments, and provide a great depth of knowledge to our own dive crews.

𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐔𝐬 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫

Today, the members of Lewisville Local 3606 and Lewisville Fire pause to reflect on a day that reshaped our department and impacted the life of one of our own.

On August 6, 2012, we answered the call to a house fire. Engine 3 was first on the scene, with Andy Allison as the Nozzleman. In the midst of battling the blaze, Andy was struck by an electric shock from a dryer. Though he walked away, the injuries were life-altering and the full effects took time to reveal.

Andy's story is a stark reminder that there's no such thing as an "ordinary" call, and situations can change in an instant. From this incident, we've learned, grown, and made crucial changes to our procedures to prevent such accidents in the future.

We honor Andy's courage and the lessons learned from that fateful day. Let's all take a moment to review our Meter Pulling procedures, OV position roles, and Electrocution protocols. These measures exist or were revised because of Andy's experience.

Additionally, Andy has been advocating for his fellow fire fighters across the state of Texas. He has spoken at the Capitol in Austin countless times and has met with legislators to help reform the Workers’ Compensation system for emergency responders. Because of the work Andy has done, two bills were passed and signed into law, which better supports injured emergency responders.

We stand together, always learning and growing, for the safety of your fire fighters and our community.

Help keep your pets safe 🐾

🐶 Today is , a great opportunity to emphasize the importance of keeping our pets safe from potential fire hazards.

Here are some essential tips to help ensure the safety of our furry friends in the event of a fire emergency.

🐾 Consider installing monitored smoke detectors to receive an alert when you are not home.

🐾 Secure hazards out of paws' reach, especially electrical wires and stove-top k***s.

🐾 Make sure your pet is microchipped or wearing a collar with up-to-date contact information.

🐾 Keep pets near an entrance door where fire fighters can easily get to them.

🐾 Affix a pet alert decal on the door or window of your home.

Thank you to our brothers in blue for keeping Lewisville safe. 💙

Our officers do great police work every day. Today is no exception. Early in the morning of July 16, 2024, Officer Huff, assigned to patrol, stopped a vehicle after she observed the driver commit a hazardous traffic violation. During the investigation, Officer Huff located and seized approximately 1.5 pounds of ma*****na, 3 handguns, and a significant amount of cash. The driver was arrested, and the investigation is ongoing. LPD is tasked with traffic enforcement, and finding ways to get guns and drugs off our streets. Thanks to Officer Huff, 3 guns are off the streets, and the drugs are in police custody. Excellent work by Officer Huff and Team LPD!
