And here we celebrate the win. Go WA !!
Here is the BRONZE MEDAL winning wobble!!
Bronze Medallists!
We went out hard, determined to show the Queenslanders who was in charge.
We acored in the 39th minute and defended hard. Queensland pulled their keeper in the final quarter to boost their attack. We kept our supporters guessing when Queensland earned a penalty corner in the final minute of the game and converted to send us to wobble offs.
Nerves of steel were shown by our goal keeping captain Dirranie Kirby to deny Queensland during the initial 5 wobbles. At the completion of 5 we were still a draw at 2-2.
It came down to the second sudden death wobble and Jo Muntz put the thing in the thing to secure BRONZE for the WA 45 Gold team!!
Score: 3-2 (1-1 full time)
Goals: Muntz (2) French-Bluhm (1)
Cards: Sadler (green) Potter-Verburg (green) Bevis (green)
Congratulations to our sister team 2023 WA Masters Hockey Women's O45Black State Team who last night beat the ACT 2-1 in their classification match to claim fifth position. Great result and great game!

Hard fought game today against Victoria. We had many scoring opportunities but unfortunately were unable to get the thing in the thing. Victoria got two goals in two minutes in the final quarter and we were unable to get on the board.
Well played team. We kept fighting until
then end and never stopped believing in ourselves. ✅🙂

Rest day today included beach sprints and lunch overlooking the ocean. Ahhh bliss!
Out and about after our game yesterday! We had the WA “virgin” dresses yesterday and some lovely shots of our fresh new WA Masters players.
We took in lunch, the championship Welcoming Ceremony, dinner, and the 2023 WA Masters Hockey Women's O40 State Team quarter final against Queensland Gold.
Post match recovery. We love our ice baths!!
Fifth and final round game today against Queensland and we were keen to atone for our loss yesterday. Again, unfortunately it was not to be. Queensland put an early goal away and we were on the back foot for the rest of the game.
Today was a game when our players put their bodies on the line. Lots of heart shown and we kept running to the end of the game.
Score: 0-4

Cards: Patton (green), MacDonald (green)
Post match ice baths and catching up with old friends!
Game four today against Victoria and unfortunately the result didn’t go the way we wanted. Lots of heart shown by the WA O45 Gold team! We ran and chased and attacked but were unable to convert our opportunities.
Great fight from both teams!

Yesterday the team swapped their hockey sticks for golf putters and played 18 holes of mini golf at the Point Walter Golf Course. Great fun was had as we honed our putting skills and attempted to import hockey skills into the game with mixed success. What larks!
Our third game today was against ACT.
We started with the intent to play our game and dictate the pace and outcome. We were able to move the ball around the field and did our best to “get the thing in the thing”.
Seven goals were scored by seven different players - fantastic team work!
Unfortunately I don’t have any game photos to include as yet - anyone who was watching and has photos they would be happy for us to use please message me!
Score: 7-0
Goals: Stratton, French-Bluhm, Bevis, Potter-Verburg, Versace, Parker, Muntz

An early start this morning meant we had time
for recovery and a debrief before heading to PHS1 to support the WA O34 Gold team. Great work 2023 WA Masters Hockey Women's O34Gold State Team and congratulations on your 3-1 win over NSW!!
Game two saw us face off against NSW. The game started and it was fast and furious pace! Lots of back and forth, two strokes, green cards and heart.
WA scored first but unfortunately we were not able to hold onto lead. NSW equalised then scored twice to edge ahead and we played catch up the final quarter. We clawed one back but ran out of time to even the scores.
It was a great game to watch and play and we are looking forward to the next challenge.
Score: 2-3
Goals: Muntz, Carmody
Cards: Potter-Verburg (green)
Don’t say that we ignore the big questions…. who is the shortest member of the WA O45 Gold team?? Here we are lined up in height order!!
First game today and we are on the scoreboard! A rather warm hit out this morning against WA Black. We came out looking to consolidate on our training and scratch matches!
So great to step on field as a team and fantasic to be out there playing our WA counterparts.
Final score 5-0 to WA Gold.
Goals: Parker, Versace, Potter-Verburg, French-Bluhm, Herbert
