There's something about freshly baked bread that sends us all to our happy place 😍
A visit to the famous Castara Dirt Oven is a must if you love bread and pastries. You'll feel like you've stepped into heaven as you follow your nose to the dome-shaped traditional oven and smell treats like your grandmother used to make.
Since the oven is right on the beach, go for a swim or soak up the sun as you wait for loaves of bread, tarts, buns and other treats to bake to perfection.

Guadeloupe is also on our list. If you are a fan of Death in Paradise as we are on BBC, this is the shooting location for the show. Luckily, unlike the show, someone isn't murdered every week! We were actually planning a trip there before deciding on Tobago first. At the time, budget carrier Norwegian Air (only affordable way to get there) cancelled it's service from New York and Ft. Lauderdale.
Now Jet Blue has started service non-stop departing Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays between New York’s John F. Kennedy airport and Guadeloupe’s Pointe-à-Pitre airport, through April 27th then restarts. Only 4% of their visitors are from US with about 2% from Canada. Our kind of place and definitely need to look at for next one!

One of the many beaches we will visit in Tobago. This one is a bit touristy with facilities and watersports if you are into that. Still think we will find better right where we are staying at Little Bay (AKA Heavenly Bay) in Castara and also Englishmans Bay, a secluded, undeveloped beach about a mile or two down the road from Castara that is supposed to be the inspiration for the book Robinson Crusoe
