🌿The day of Arafah will be on Thursday, July 30.
🍃It is a recommended sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ for those who are not pilgrims to fast on this day, since the Prophet ﷺwas asked about fasting on the day of Arafah, so he said:

"It expiates the sins of the past year and the coming year." (Muslim)

✅The Prophet also said:

"There is no day on which Allaah frees people from the Fire more so than on the day of 'Arafah. He comes close to those (people standing on 'Arafah), and then He reveals before His Angels saying, ‘What are these people seeking." (Muslim)

❕Things to Do on the Day of Arafah❕

1. Fasting on the Day of Arafah:

Fasting is highly encouraged and recommended for those not going on hajj.

"Fasting on the Day of Arafah expiates the sins of the past year and the coming year." (Muslim)

2. DU'AA OF ARAFAH: Saying this du'aa very often:

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺsaid:

"The most excellent dua is the dua on the Day of Arafah, and the best of what I and the prophets before me have said, is "There is nothing that deserves to be worshiped in truth except Allaah, He is Alone and has no partner, to Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs all praise, and He is All-Powerful over all things.'"

3. Making Tahleel, Takbeer, Tahmeed and Tasbeeh:

Its is a sunnah of our Prophet to recite the Tahleel, Takbeer and Tahmeed as many times as possible on the day of Arafah, and also on the days of Tashreeq (11, 12 and 13th of Dhul Hijjah)

Tahleel is to say "Laa ilaaha il-lal-laah"

Takbeer is to say "Allahu Akbar"

Tahmeed is to say "Alhamdulillaah"

Tasbeeh is to say "Subhanallaah".

4. Seek forgiveness from Almighty Allah:

🥀The Prophet Muhammad ﷺsaid:

"On this day, Allah, the most Exalted, descends to the nearest heaven, and He is proud of His servants on the earth and says to those in heavens, look at My servants, they have come from far and near, with hair disheveled and faces covered with dust, to seek my Mercy. Even if their sins are as much the sand or the froth of the sea, I shall forgive them."

Dear Community,

“Whosoever killeth a human being for other than manslaughter or corruption in the earth, it shall be as ifhe had killed all mankind, and whoso saveth the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of allmankind”. Al Qur’an: Al-Ma’idah 5:32

On behalf of the Majlis Ashura of metro Atlanta, we abhor the senseless killing of Rayshard Brooks. Whenthe police choose to become a judge, jury and executioner in a matter of minutes the society Is in deep
trouble.

We call for justice for the Brooks family, and we call for an immediate review of use of force proceduresby the Atlanta Police Department. As the world continues in our mourning of the death of George Floyd,Breonna Taylor, and Ahmed Arbery, we are now faced again with this tragic incident in our own
backyard.

As Muslims we are taught that when we witness a wrong, we must change it with our hands; If we cannotdo that we speak out against it. If we cannot do that we must hate in our hearts, and hating it in ourhearts is one of the weakest forms of faith.
We say to our young people who are expressing their rage to channel that into productive and systemicchange. We understand its source and stand with you and support you in helping you to do that. The
great abolitionist Frederick Douglass said that “Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never didand it never will. If there is no struggle, there is no progress”. We encourage you to continue to struggleagainst unjust police practices, and systemic racism. We are on the cusp of history, and the world is watching.

Join us for an online Town Hall on June 19th at 3pm via Zoom Meeting ID: 802-000-4787 and Password:650472. Thank you.

Respectfully,

Imam Sulaimaan Hamed
Convener

Bismillah: Despite the easing of some restrictions by Gov. Kemp, at the advice of health experts and in consideration of the position of Atlanta's Mayor Keisha Lance-Bottoms,

Masjid of Taqwa will remain closed at this time. We will continue to do our due diligence to sanitize our masaajid and assess the spread of the virus. This decision is in support of the City Wide Majlis' decision of NO in person iftar or Tarawih.
