A 40-year-old man, Abubakar Nasiru on Monday prayed a Shari’a court sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna state to order a technician to return his TV set.

The complainant told the court that he took his faulty television to Muhktar Birnin-Gwari, for repairs nine months ago and he has refused to return it to him.

“I have tried my best to recover my TV but he keeps making excuses. Right now I am no longer interested in the repair, I want my TV”,he said .

On his part, Birnin-Gwari told the court that the TV had a faulty screen.

He said he gave the tv to his colleague to assist in fixing it.

He prayed court to give him one week to return the television.

The Judge,  Malam Isiyaku Abdulrahman, ordered the defendant to return the TV on one week.

He cautioned the defendant to return the television be in the state it was received.(NAN)

A businessman, Haruna Adamu, on Thursday, prayed a Magajin Gari Shari’a Court in Kaduna to order his estranged wife, Salamatu Abubakar, to return to her matrimonial home or refund the bride price paid on her.

Adamu said he did not have money to marry another wife.

“So, if my wife is not willing to return to me, she should refund the bride price I paid to her parents,” he said.

He said that he met his now estranged wife as a divorcee and decided to marry her.

According to him, the marriage lasted for just just eight months during which he enjoyed her only for the first two months.

He said that things went awry thereafter, following which she relocated to her parents.

The complainant told the court that for six months, he had been sending money and foodstuff to his wife, while she is still residing with her parents.

“I married her as a divorcee and in the eight months of our marriage, I only enjoyed two months of peace.

”I love my wife and I want her back.

“But if she’s not willing to return home, then she should pay me off so that I can remarry because I don’t  have money to marry another woman,” he said.

Oh her part, the defendant said she was compelled to quit her matrimonial home because Adamu was physically abusing her.

She added that her estranged husband demonstrated no empathy towards her mother, who was sick.

She said she would rather refund the N75,000  dowry which her husband paid to her parents than return to her matrimonial home.(NAN)

A 23-year-old woman Hajara Yusuf, who filed a suit against her husband Mustapha Muhammad at Shari’a court, Magajin Gari Kaduna state on Monday displayed her altered identity outside the court.

The complainant had prayed for her marriage dissolution on the grounds of alleged abuse by her husband where she presented a picture of her swollen face to the court.

Shortly after the judge, Malam Isiyaku Abdulrahman confirmed the one pronouncement of divorce mentioned by the defendant,the complainant was heard shouting outside the court room.

The noise was too loud causing spectators  to leave the court room to find  out what was going on after the court proceedings.

Yusuf was shouting “ba’ayi mun adalci ba in Hausa language” meaning justice was not served while insulting her ex husband.

She fell on the floor several times ,lied down for some seconds before she stood up and continued shouting causing injury on her face, until her relatives held her tight.

One of the complainant’s relatives who pleaded anonymity said Yusuf was suffering from Jinn possession.

Earlier in court,the defendant had denied assaulting his wife saying he loved her.

He however made one pronouncement of divorce to the wife in the court following a witness testimony that the couple were always quarreling .(NAN)

President Bola Tinubu has suspended the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu with immediate effect.

A statement by presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale said this was in line Tinubu’s avowed commitment to uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability in the management of the commonwealth of Nigerians.

Ngelale said that the President directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to conduct a thorough investigation into all aspects of the financial transactions involving the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, as well as one or more agencies thereunder.

He said the suspended Minister was also directed to hand over to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry.

The suspended Minister was further directed by the President to fully cooperate with the investigating authorities as they conduct their investigation.(NAN)

The Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, says that the Federal  Government is committed to delivering the uncompleted section of the Abuja-Kaduna before the end of the year.

Umahi made this commitment in a meeting with all directors of the ministry on Thursday in Abuja, adding that all obstacles hindering the delivery would be addressed to ensure actualisation of the project for the benefit of Nigerians before the end of 2024.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd. says there is no imminent increase in the cost of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.

The NNPC Ltd, in a statement by its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Mr Olufemi Soneye, on Wednesday, urged Nigerians to disregard unfounded rumours of increase in the pump price of petrol.

Soneye assured the public that there were no plans for an upward review of the price of petrol.

“Motorists nationwide are advised against engaging in panic buying as there is presently ample availability of petrol across the country,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that there were reports in some sections of the media that fuel marketers under the aegis of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) clashed with the NNPC Ltd over payment of subsidy.

Soneye, while reacting through a WhatsApp message, emphasised that subsidy had been completely removed on petrol.

He also said the company did not have any dispute with IPMAN over any subsidy payment on petrol as alleged.

The IPMAN National President, Mr Chinedu Okoronkwo, in a telephone interview with NAN, also dispelled rumours of dispute, adding that the public should ignore such news. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

A father of four, Lukman Soladoye on Tuesday appeared before a Shari’a court sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna for beating his wife ,Kemi Soladoye and their four children.

Soladoye said he beat his wife and children to correct them when they were wrong adding that he loves his family and wanted the best for them.

Earlier, the complainant through her counsel B.A Tanko said she had wanted a divorce due to the incessant assault but later changed her mind and settle with her husband.

She prayed court to caution the defendant to stop physically abusing her and their children.

The judge Malam Isiyaku Abdulrahman asked the defendant if he would promise to stop beating his wife and children and the defendant said he would stop beating the wife not children.

“If your wife does anything wrong to you, talk to her about it and show your displeasure; you are not supposed to beat your wife.

“As for your children, beating is not the only way to correct a child; always show love and affection to your children, pray for them and advise them”, the judge advised.

The judge said the court will continue to monitor the defendant’s behavior and asked the complainant to report to the court if the defendant assaults her again .(NAN)
