"Reflections on Sailing"
Original, oil on masontie, 8" x 10", framed as shown, overall framed size is approximately 16" x 18".
As art of this type should be viewed from several steps away, human nature and curiousity always bring the viewer in for a closer look. As the viewer approaches the painting, the heavy texture (as can be seen in the extreme close-up) can be felt with the minds eye, without ever making physical contact. The background of sea and sky are painted in a cross hatch pattern, adding yet another layer visual interest.
“Lemonade in Primaries”
Oil on Masonite, 11” x 14”. Original oil painting. This was painted using the grisaille method, beginning in grayscale, then many layers of glaze, to create the lemon’s luminosity, that can not be created by paint directly from a tube. The painting title is indicative of the colors used, ie. red/ blue/ yellow.
