Check out The Talking Bread.

Creator Kieran Jack has been busy producing more and more comics over the years and it's exciting to see this classic be collected in a trade format and remastered in full colour. This 64 page paperback collects issues 1 to 3 from the successful comic book series The Talking Bread and includes The Baking Of, a behind the scenes look at the creative process from its conception in 2015 to the now. It’s the ultimate battle between sentient bread and the master baker. It’s a fun read and well worth checking out!

In the build up to Aussie Comic Book Day this Saturday, we wanted to spotlight some of the great new books we have in the All Star local section and highlight some of amazing creators throughout Australia.

First up, some food related goodness with FOOD/LOVE

FOOD/LOVE explores the relationship between people and food, where memory and flavour are combined to tell a one of a kind, heartwarming story.

The combination of writer Gary Proudley, who is undoubtedly a prominent name in Australian comics, with artist Jake Bartok, who has recently illustrated covers for IDW’s Star Trek, makes for great overall reading experience. We highly recommend it.

Breakerland is a relatively new addition to the local shelfs with story and art by Brandon Chung with an exciting new story that’s well worth looking into. It’s the first chapter in an action-packed story as Beck, a young, teary-eyed construction worker, finds himself entangled in the dangerous world of superpowered 'breakers'. What are breakers you ask? You'll have to check out this great first issue to find out.

Brandon's background in animation comes through strongly in his art as the story is full of energy and dynamic movement. Well worth giving a read in the lead up to Aussie Comic Book Dayz!

Drop in on Saturday and meet Benji Bajorek, a writer/artist and one of the newest, most prolific talents on the local scene at the moment and be swept up with his selection of books.
