But, it’s Christmas Eve…the kids are watching TV and playing with the cat who has adopted us

Do your kids’ teddies get books when they’re on holiday?

Every holiday, we get a new baby book in Italian from the supermarket

This one is for Piggie* (left)

It’s her first trip to Italy and Bananas is teaching her the lingo

Bananas (right) can hold his own in Italian as you’d expect**

*yes - we know she’s not actually a piggie

** Bananas was born in in Pisa and returns to his birthplace several times a year

🤒 Little Miss Poorly 🤒

We’ve been quiet on here for the last few days as Little Miss wasn’t well

She had chills and fevers and dreadful stomach pains

We ended up calling an out-of-hours medical service last night in a neighbouring Italian town

…turns out they aren’t supposed to see people now, just send them to hospital to get Covid tested

…but the medic took pity on us (perhaps because of my very rusty Italian) and opened up especially for us!

…after all the drama, she seems completely fine this morning

…you can no longer fry an egg on her tummy

…and thus ends 4 days of lying on the bed next to her reading picture books

📚 Do your big kids want you to read their toddler books to them when they’re poorly? Little Miss always reaches for those is she is laid low. Or, rather, gets me to reach for them!

Anyone else have kids who laugh at them when they cry?

When they cry when terrible things happen to characters in books?

Even kids’ books like ‘Five Children on the Western Front’?

I’d say it’s a bit cheeky of the kids as I’ve spent the last week reading this to them!

It’s a great magical adventure book that we can’t recommend highly enough.

….make sure you have some tissues handy!
