Meet Troy and Shannon Allan

This humble couple from Summerton, SC has a dynamic journey to share with all of you. As an Independent Farming family, they have experienced their fair share of ups and downs. From raising a family, experiencing life threatening injuries, fighting cancer, starting small businesses, investing in their small community, and learning how to depend on Jesus daily; this episode has it ALL!

With all of their success on the table, they cared more about sharing the reality of the struggle. What it looked like when they doubted, when they feared, and about the moments where they were brought to Jesus. You will find this very refreshing, honest, and real. As grandparents now, they are sharing with the next generation (and with us) what it looks like to follow Jesus and why He is worthy of all of our praise.

Introducing Lexie and Luke Pittman!

These two small town sweethearts loved sharing their big dreams with us. They are vibrant and business savvy but also very humble.

What is important to you and your family? You may have a different answer to this question after listening to them open their hearts.

In close to six years of marriage they have experienced mountain tops and valleys, but they never lost sight of Who is in control. In fact, their faith has inspired many people during the most difficult time.

Introducing…Steven and Leah Fitts! This hardworking couple was so gracious to spend time with us. They gave us an inside look at the daily grind and are proof that aside from hard work, dedication and intentional family time are key to their household running smoothly.

Steven is a former football player turned business man, and Leah is a rockstar realtor. Sincerity, talent, and inspiration are just three takeaway words from our time with them. Details are important to Leah and Steven, and they share with all of us how even the smallest detail can make the biggest impact.

They’ll be the first to tell you that no one has it all figured out, but they break the huddle each day with purpose. They make sure their family’s efforts reflect not just who they are, but the God they serve.

We met this couple for the first time when we recorded their episode and we left feeling like we had know them for years. Very laid back and down to earth, they make you feel right at home. Don’t let their easy going personalities fool you, these are two very passionate people.

They both are heavily involved in missions locally, nationally, and internationally. Any outdoorsman? Danny and Jessica both share their love for the outdoors and share stories from different hunting trips they have been on. As parents of two teenage daughters, they share the different ways they ensure their family remains close-knit. One of the biggest ways is how they serve together. This has become a key element for their family and they both share the impact of that.

Also, you will never guess what Danny’s job is. We found it “Eggtra” fascinating. He shares a little bit about that and we find out their biggest quirks in the BIO section.

Wow! What a response already from the Hoffman episode yesterday. Some of you have asked about the Church in Atlanta, so we wanted to share their page.

If you live near Atlanta, or are just passing through, you need to go check Refuge Church out. You will be absolutely blessed by the Spirit’s continual presence amongst this group of believers. They also live stream all their services. Every time we tune in for their live steam, we still receive the same sense of encouragement, family, and love. All things that come directly from the Spirit of who Jesus is.

Brady and Kelly Hoffman

Tomorrow’s episode will have you laughing the entire time. These two “pranksters” currently live in Atlanta. We were very fortunate to catch them while in SC and our hour with them was full of laughs, stories, encouragement, passion, and love.

Brady is one of the founding Pastors of Refuge Church in Atlanta. From college ministry to planting a church and all the jobs in between, Brady shares their story of God’s faithfulness. Kelly currently works at Chick-Fil-A Corporate Office in Atlanta. It was “her pleasure” to share her own journey and how God prepared a way for her despite many challenges. During all of this, Brady and Kelly struggled to have children. They both walk us through their tough moments and how God again was faithful at every step. They now have two beautiful girls!

The BIO section at the end may be our funniest one yet. Our faces hurt from all the laughter afterwards, we are sure that yours will as well. Tune in tomorrow for the Hoffmans!

Let’s get SEASON 3 started!!!

On tomorrow’s episode, Dustin and Katharine are interviewed by our very-own Mary-Michal DuRant. Many of you have followed the last 6 months and the journey our ministry has been through. After many questions/requests, we have decided to do a SHARE-ALL!

As many of you know, Katharine’s Dad passed away after a very rough battle with heart failure. Katharine shares for the first time what that journey entailed and how she continues to see God work through the worst moments of her life. On the other side of the table, Dustin shares the story behind their new baby girl that will be born in November. Hear about how God worked in his life through this in an abnormal way.

Dustin and Katharine will also PREVIEW SEASON 3 and the amazing couples coming your way. At the end, Mary-Michal turns the tables and puts Dustin and Katharine on the hot-seat with some “BIO ?’s” of her own. Tune in tomorrow!

We appreciate all your support over these last few months and your understanding for our absence. There is so much to say on that, but the Lord has directed our steps and allowed this Season to be possible. And what a Season it is going to be! So many different personalities, perspectives, and stories. This may be our most diverse Season yet. Our Season 3 couples are full of vulnerability, encouragement, and passion. We can’t wait to share them with you!

Road Tripping this morning to record two couples for Season 3!

UPDATE:

Many of you know about or have heard Katharine openly speak about her Dad’s battle with his heart. He has been hospitalized and suffering for over 5 months.

Randy Carlson (Poppy) went to his eternal home to be with Jesus on Tuesday morning surrounded by the ones he loved most. This has been quite the marathon for Katharine/Ryan and their family, please keep them in your prayers as they go through the next days, months, and years without one of the most impactful people in their lives.

At Salty Life, we believe in healing and have prayed for months for Poppy. Beyond healing, we believe in the power of the Ressurection of Jesus Christ. We believe that Poppy is healed eternally, because he had a very intimate relationship with Jesus. Poppy had a personal impact on all of us and anyone he came into contact with. I can personally attest (Dustin) that Poppy was someone who pushed me to know Jesus more intimately and to know His Word. Poppy reached so many because he was so intentional in his faith. The need for the Gospel was more important to him than popularity, comfort, and time. The Gospel was always his purpose in every interaction and always at the tip of his tongue.

Poppy was also a huge supporter of Salty Life. Below is one of the many messages of encouragement he would send me weekly. His impact on this ministry was very large in so many ways, and his impact will live on.

When I think about Poppy, Paul describes him better than I ever could:

Romans 10:14-15

[14] How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? [15] And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
