Art By Karen
This page is for me to display my artwork. I have set it up rather than post my art on my profile. Thank you for coming over & looking around.
It is here for those of you who are interested in seeing my work DM if you would like to purchase any work.
Let me introduce you to Naomi. She is my latest painting. Soft pastels on pastelmat.
Naomi is a figment of my imagination. I hope you like her.
If you're interested, I can show you how I progressed until the I got to the finished painting.
This the first time for me painting dark skin so it's a practice piece. I so loved doing this using these beautiful, vibrant colours.
Great day today.
Challenged to do a picture using Conte and a model (statue)...
Such fun, I am delighted with the result...
Conte are so quick to use and so effective. I hope you like it. Let me know your thoughts on it in the comments.
My picture framed, it is displaying it beautifully.
I think it is looking great in my lounge.
I'm tickled pink! 🤭
My latest painting in oil pastels. I finished it in art group today. I so enjoed painying this on oil pastel paper for a change for me, I do normally love my pastelmat 😉 but this was ok.
Quite a different style from my other work. It reminds me of a stained glass window.
I hope you like it, let me know your thoughts in the comments. 😘
I've finished Mr Digby...
What do you think? I think he's rather handsome.
Let me know what you think of him in comments. Please be kind, he is the second cat I've painted but I rather like him. 🤭😉
Hickling, boat houses on the beautiful Norfolk Broads.
I have done this painting at our art group, being pushed (nicely), way out of my comfort zone. It really wasn't an easy picture to do, it has taken me a long time
Apparently, I'm told, it's the best work I've done!
That's the great thing about going to an art group, you get the chance to do something you otherwise wouldn't even contemplate doing and you have others around you to encourage and help you finish it rather than giving up.
I hope you like it as much as I did painting it...
Now off to the framers it goes.
Ive been asked to paint another cat, a gorgeous, handsome Maine C**n called, Mr Digby...
This is him so far. I'm pleased with how it's going but gosh, it's a bit nerve wracking when it's for someone else!! 🤔👩🏼🎨.
Just a little something coming atcha from the side... Looks like a storm is brewing.
Yesterday's painting, it was four hours of sheer joy.
Soft pastels on A5 pastelmat.
A portait of beautiful Bimbo, for my friend, Diane, who lost her beloved furbaby last month.
I have asked Diane's permission to post Bimbo's portait, before Bimbo goes home to America.
I'm sharing my latest piece in progress.
Acrylic on canvas. A still life. I have a long way to go before it's finished. It's lovely to have a paintbrush in my hand again. It's been a long time.
I'm so enjoying doing it.
Finished....YAY!!!
I'm so chuffed with this piece, it was a real challenge I really enjoyed doing.
I hope you like it!
Ooo, I'm way out of my depth here, but it's so exciting! I am truly loving these challenges. This is a work in progress, a lot more to do, I just wanted to share!
Oil pastels on A2 pastelmat
My Iris flower, Ha! I thought it would be easy...how wrong can you be?!!
Pastel pencils on A5 pastelmat...
I hope you like it, I do, I'm quite pleased.
Introducing Guinness, the black labrador. This is my latest painting.
Soft pastels on pastelmat A5.
I am enjoying painting animals. I'm way out of my comfort zone, but it seems I'm rising to the challenge, I hope you like him.
Ok, it's finished, I am so pleased with it. I hope you like it?
It the second horse painting I have done, the first in oil pastels.
I do enjoy painting horses.
This is done with, oil pastels on pastelmat.
Nearly there, still some work to do.
Still a way to go, but I am loving doing this... Can you see a difference? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
Progress, it's coming along...
I'm so enjoying these oil pastels
Just started a new project... Horses, this is my second attempt of painting a horse and this time, it's in oil pastels on pastelmat, rather than soft pastel which, is the medium I used for my last horse picture.
There is a long way to go here, building up the layers but, I thought you might like to see what I've been up to. Comments welcome. Thanks for your interest, for all your encouragement and for following me.
And he is done...Yes!!!
Started a new project today. Oil pastels on pastelmat. Feeling good, it's great to be back in my comfort zone.
Little by little he comes to life.
As you can see I don't grid my canvas or pastelmat. I do it all freehand.
Ha! it's the way I roll.
Have a great weekend lovely people! 😘
It's finished and I'm delighted.
I'm really loving my oil pastels. I hope you like it.
Let me know what you like about it in the comments. ❤
It's coming on. The flowerhead is looking good, I think it will really pop when the background is done.
Onto the vase, it's interesting to do 😲 everything shows 🤭🎨
Another couple of hours on the flowerhead. I really like the way its taking shape and building on the layers of colour.
Started a new oil pastel painting today. A hydrangea, totally new to me, not normally a flower girl. I so enjoyed doing this today, it will be fun watching it grow.
Another new challenge for me is, it is in a glass vase! 😲🤭👩🏼🎨
Watch this space. Loving it so far!
Well, I thought I'd change the background of my latest Kingfisher. I'm rather pleased. I hope you like it.
She is finished now...YAY!!
I am very pleased with how she's turned out.
Oil pastels on pastelmat. ❤
Changed again. I'm really enjoying this. Still a way to go. 😁
A lttle more done, she is changing shape
Started another portrait yesterday using oil pastels... Wow, using these little sticks of oil pigment are very different for this type of work, still, I'm starting to understand how to blend them and I am quite pleased with how it's coming along.
