Three things to do if you get a bad review.
1. Take a deep breath. Every great author gets bad reviews. If a total stranger feels obliged to leave a negative review, that means you’re selling books. Keep at it!
2. Get more reviews. One negative review won’t hurt your book. Bury the negativity by encouraging people who like the book to leave a review.
3. Take it to heart. Sometimes, a negative review is helpful. Consider what the negative review says. If there is truth in it, use that information to make your next book even better.

Want to use social media to promote your book? Here are a few things to remember:
1. Don’t go overboard. If you constantly ask people to buy your book, they’ll tune out. Sprinkle in plenty of other content they’ll enjoy.
2. Let someone else brag on your book. Encourage friends to talk up your book on their accounts. This connects you to folks you may not know.
3. Influencers are your friends. Find people with access to your ideal audience and leverage that access to your benefit.
4. There is life beyond social media. If social media doesn’t result in massive sales, relax. There are plenty of other ways to get books in readers’ hands.

Authors: If you’re doing all the heavy lifting on your book, make sure those “free” fonts are really free. Many are free for personal use. But for commercial use, you have to buy a license.
Not sure if you need to pay to use your favorite font? Look up whoever created it and ask the creator directly!
Buying a license costs a few bucks today and saves you a potential legal headache tomorrow.

Think artificial intelligence (AI) can write better books and poems than you? Think again.
Sure, AI may put periods and commas in the right place, but writing is more than punctuation. Writing is love and hate, fear and courage, optimism and dread.
AI offer none of these.
So, fear not. All those poems, stories, and essays bouncing around in your head belong to you. Start writing them, and they can belong to your readers as well.
