Nvidia's stock is up 170% in the past year. Nvidia's stock is up 3,000% in the past five years. These are insane gains, the type that lure in the less-experienced investor hoping to retire early.
And Nvidia's story is surprisingly easy to grasp despite the company's incredibly complicated business. Nvidia makes the best artificial intelligence chips in a world being upheaved by AI. Simple. No one is even close to Nvidia in terms of AI chip performance and forward-looking demand.

For Nvidia's report to be embraced, I think investors need to see at least two things:
📊Nvidia must convey that reported Blackwell shipment delays aren't a structural issue.
📊Nvidia must show strong quarter-over-quarter sales growth in its data center business.

Here are some tips for spotting trends in trading:
1. Look at the overall price movement.
Is the asset generally moving up (bullish trend), down (bearish trend), or sideways (ranging market)?

2. Examine the highs and lows.
In an uptrend, each new high should be higher than the previous high, and each new low should be higher than the previous low. In a downtrend, each new low should be lower than the previous low, and each new high should be lower than the previous high.

3. Analyze moving averages
If the price is above a rising 50-day or 200-day moving average, that signals an uptrend. If the price is below a falling moving average, that suggests a downtrend.
4. Look for support and resistance levels. Trending markets often respect these key price levels, with the price bouncing off them.
Consider momentum indicators like the Relative Strength Index (RSI) or MACD. These can help confirm the strength and direction of a trend.

5. The key is to use multiple technical analysis tools and look for confirmation across different indicators to increase confidence in the trend direction.

A blue chip stock refers to the stock of a large, well-established, and financially sound company. Some key characteristics of blue chip stocks include:
- Large market capitalization (usually over $5 billion)
- Dominant position in their industry
- Long history of profitability and dividend payments
- Stable and growing earnings
- Recognized brand name

Examples of blue chip stocks include companies like Apple, Microsoft, Coca-Cola, Johnson & Johnson, and Exxon Mobil.

Whether you should buy blue chip stocks depends on your investment goals, risk tolerance, and overall portfolio strategy. Some potential benefits of investing in blue chip stocks include:
- Relative stability and lower volatility compared to smaller or riskier stocks
- Consistent dividend payments
- Potential for steady long-term growth
However, blue chip stocks may also have more limited upside potential compared to smaller, higher-growth companies. They are also not immune to market downturns and economic cycles.

Why regional banks are now willing to take billions in losses?
More US regional banks are taking a step that was unthinkable more than a year ago in the aftermath of the Silicon Valley Bank failure: selling underwater bonds at a loss.
When Silicon Valley Bank did it, it spurred a panic among investors and depositors.
The difference this time around is that regional banks aren’t selling lower-yielding securities to pay depositors. Instead they are preparing for interest rate cuts from the Federal Reserve.

What do you think about this? Let us know in the comment!

GoPro Announces New Distribution Partnership With SoftBank C&S in Japan. Could This Help the Declining Stock?

Its durable cameras might be popular with folks taking action footage, but GoPro (GPRO 0.64%) hasn't been a great success as a stock. After a sustained period of excitement following its 2014 IPO, investors have largely shunned the company.

Might that change with a recent deal? The stock has been showing a few signs of life since management announced news of a distribution arrangement with one of the top conglomerates in the Asian tech sector.

On its own, this deal probably won't reverse GoPro's revenue slide over the past few years -- the company has seen its top line erode from $1.16 billion in 2021 to barely over $1 billion last year. I feel it's admirable that management has been able to push annual sales above the $1 billion mark for what's essentially a niche set of products and services. Like others, though, I think GoPro might be at or near its ceiling in terms of its core addressable market.

Microsoft's (NASDAQ: MSFT) stock has soared 466,000% since it went public in 1986. The company has a history of delivering impressive returns thanks to a potent position in tech and consistent reinvestment in its business.

In fact, an early investment in ChatGPT developer OpenAI allowed Microsoft to get a headstart in artificial intelligence (AI), boosting its share price by 89% since the start of 2023. The company rallied investors with AI integration across its various software platforms and impressive earnings growth.
Microsoft has come a long way in its nearly 50 years of business, recently becoming the world's second-most valuable company by market cap (only after Apple). However, Microsoft is only just getting started in key growth markets like artificial intelligence and cloud computing, suggesting plenty of room to run.

On Monday the company hit an all-time high as Morgan Stanley named Apple a top pick. It raised its price target on an expected mega upgrade cycle driven by Apple's coming AI platform.

"Apple Intelligence is a clear catalyst to boost iPhone and iPad shipments," Morgan Stanley analysts wrote.

That Apple's yet-to-be-released AI tools will be available to only 8% of existing iPhone and iPad users strengthens the case for an abnormally large upgrade cycle, they said. Add in an already enormous user base and a replacement cycle that has stretched to almost five years, and there's a recipe for a lot of people itching for new devices.

Should You Buy CrowdStrike Stock Now That It's Part of the S&P 500?

CrowdStrike has proven that it can compete in an intense cybersecurity market and do so in a highly profitable way. Moreover, as AI demand continues to surge, the company should be in a position to benefit from secular tailwinds.

The one drawback of investing in CrowdStrike is its pricey valuation. Right now, its stock trades at a forward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 96 and a price-to-free-cash-flow (P/FCF) multiple of 93.

Simply put, the stock is expensive -- even for growth investors. With that said, I still think CrowdStrike is a compelling opportunity.

Experienced traders avoid a number of pitfalls that can trip up beginners. Here are some common mistakes seasoned traders steer clear of:

Trading without a plan: This means jumping into trades without a clear idea of why they're buying or selling, when they'll get out, and how much they're risking. Experienced traders have a defined trading strategy and stick to it.

Letting emotions rule: Fear and greed are two big emotions that can cloud judgment and lead to bad decisions. Experienced traders know to keep their emotions in check and make decisions based on logic and analysis.

Failing to manage risk: This involves things like using stop-loss orders to limit potential losses and not risking too much capital on any one trade. Experienced traders understand that losses are inevitable, and they focus on managing them effectively.

Chasing hot tips: The market is full of supposed "get rich quick" schemes. Experienced traders know that there's no shortcut to success and focus on doing their own research and analysis.

Overtrading: Trading too frequently can lead to commissions eating into profits and can also increase the risk of making impulsive decisions. Experienced traders are patient and only trade when there's a good opportunity according to their strategy.

By avoiding these mistakes, experienced traders are able to increase their chances of success in the markets.

The artificial intelligence (AI) boom has lifted Nvidia to new heights. The "Magnificent Seven" stock has soared 27,310% in the past 10 years, making it one of the world's most valuable companies.

But there's a much smaller business that has performed even better. I'm talking about Celsius (NASDAQ: CELH). This beverage stock has skyrocketed 27,360% in the past decade (as of June 25), turning a $10,000 investment into a jaw-dropping $2.7 million.

Here are five notable charts to consider in global commodity markets as the week gets underway.

Climate: An era of extreme weather has gripped the globe as climate change ushers in a phenomenon known as “compound events” — when weather goes haywire in back-to-back or overlapping spells.

Commodities: Coffee, silver and crude have helped give commodities a boost in the first six months of 2024, helping counter weakness in grains.

Meat: Many Americans will be firing up the barbecue on July 4 to celebrate Independence Day, with hamburgers, pork sausages and chicken breasts among the perennial favorites for the summer holiday.

Cocoa: Cocoa futures in New York ended the quarter with a loss for the first time in two years, with a 21% drop cooling a breakneck rally that brought prices to an all-time high in April.

Oil: American shale executives turned a little more bearish on oil prices despite slowing US output growth and global optimism for increased demand.

There's no question that Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) is the darling of tech investing right now, and for good reason. (Despite a recent drop, the stock is up 145% so far in 2024.) The company cemented its position as the premier chip provider for artificial intelligence (AI) after cornering roughly 80% of the market. You can be sure that every other semiconductor company is itching to dethrone the king.

Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) certainly is. The longtime Nvidia rival is pouring money into developing a chip that can compete with the latest offerings from its nemesis. AMD CEO Lisa Su said at a recent unveiling of the company's latest chips: AI is our No. 1 priority.

The tech market is rapidly expanding. The Nasdaq-100 Technology Sector is up 32% in the past 12 months, outperforming the S&P 500's growth of 24% in that period. The rise brings to mind the old proverb, "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, but the second best time is now." The same sentiment applies to the stock market, especially tech stocks.

1. Nvidia
Shares in Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) have hit record heights over the last year, rising 207% alongside soaring earnings. Stellar growth has seen the company become the first chipmaker to achieve a market cap above $3 trillion, making it the world's third most valuable company this year, only after Microsoft and Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL).

2. Apple
Shares of Apple are up 341% over the past five years, while annual revenue and operating income have soared 47% and 79%. The company has often been praised as one of the best growth stocks to invest in over the long term.

One of Asia’s most lucrative currency trades risks becoming a victim of its own success, according to analysts, with investors blindsided if the market suddenly turns.
Borrowing China’s yuan and buying rupees with the proceeds is a top regional play this year. The strategy takes advantage of India’s higher interest rates as officials in both countries keep their currencies in a tight range. Citigroup Inc. estimates the strategy offers 350 basis points to 400 basis points of returns based on the interest rate differential, known as carry.

Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) executed a 10-for-1 stock split after the market close on June 7. The event reduced its trading price from about $1,200 to $120 a share, but that doesn't change any of its underlying fundamentals. The chipmaker still has a market cap of about $3 trillion, but investors can now buy smaller slices of the original shares.

Therefore, Nvidia's trading price has declined, but its valuations are exactly the same. That doesn't mean too much for smaller retail investors since most brokerages already allow their customers to buy fractional shares of higher-priced stocks.

Samsung Electronics Co. shares rose after Nvidia Corp. said it is working to certify the company’s high-bandwidth memory chips, a critical step that would allow the Korean company to capitalize on booming demand for AI technologies.

The stock gained as much as 3.6% in early Wednesday trading in Seoul. Samsung’s shares had dropped about 4% this year before Wednesday’s trading, trailing leading chip players.

Nvidia Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang told reporters Tuesday his company was examining the so-called HBM chips that Samsung and Micron Technology Inc. offer. Nvidia’s endorsement is needed before either can directly compete with SK Hynix Inc., whose share price has soared since it began supplying Nvidia with HBM3 and more advanced HBM3e chips.

In today's market, cybersecurity stocks have become increasingly notable growth stocks. Such security is crucial to maintaining the integrity of cloud computing, and companies have become innovators and users of artificial intelligence (AI) as that technology has become a critical source for both threat prevention and security.
One of the better-performing companies in this space is Zscaler (NASDAQ: ZS), the leading company in zero-trust security. However, even after releasing a strong earnings report, it failed to recover its losses from the 2022 bear market, and it sold for a 55% discount to its November 2021 high.
As previously mentioned, Zscaler leads its industry in zero-trust security because it pioneered the technology. In a cloud-oriented IT environment, firewall-based security was not adequate to protect mobile devices and servers that could be anywhere.

Duolingo (DUOL 1.49%) went public during the buying frenzy in hypergrowth stocks in late 2021. That bullish sentiment initially lifted Duolingo's stock, but it lost its luster as its growth cooled off and rising interest rates compressed its valuations.

Despite those challenges, Duolingo's stock advanced about 13% over the past 12 months and remains more than 70% above its IPO price. But it still underperformed the S&P 500, which rallied 27% during the same period. So today, let's take a fresh look at Duolingo's stock and see if it can beat the benchmark index over the next 12 months.

Meanwhile, the stock has leaped 87% so far in 2024 and is up about 200% from a year ago. Nvidia is now the third most valuable company in the world, boasting a market cap of $2.3 trillion that trails only Apple and Microsoft. But shares have essentially been flat over the last two months.

Asian stocks rose, spurred by the shares of commodity-related firms as the price of copper and gold both climbed to record highs. Optimism over eventual Federal Reserve interest-rate cuts supported the rally.
The MSCI gauge of regional shares advanced for a seventh day, with the materials sector posting the biggest percentage increase. Equity indexes for Japan, China, Hong Kong and Australia all marched higher, and futures for Europe and the US also pointed to gains.

Investors finessing bets on the Fed finally pivoting toward rate cuts has shaped trading across financial markets in recent days. The Dow Jones Industrial Average of blue chips closed above 40,000 for the first time on Friday, and optimism about US easing helped gold surge to an all-time high on Monday.

In mid-May, Piper Sandler's Brent Bracelin published a new research note on Microsoft in which he justified his existing overweight (read: buy) recommendation and $465 per-share price target. Bracelin's update comes on the heels of meetings with executives in Microsoft's security unit. The analyst wrote that following these meetings, he realized the strength of this somewhat unheralded business for the company.

The Piper Sandler pundit's price target is only 11% above the current share price. Given that, and Microsoft's strengths in so many areas (productivity software, cloud computing, AI, etc.), I think that might be quite conservative. I feel there's much more mileage in this company's stock, and it could easily surpass $500 per share before long.
