Results from the Muskingum Invitational at Legacy Lanes... (Part 2)
Warning.. Long post ahead!

Congratulations to our Lady Rocket bowlers on their 1st Place finish at Legacy Lanes in the Muskingum Invitational High School Tournament. The Lady Rockets qualified 2nd out of 12 teams to advance to the semi-finals. The first round of the semi-finals found the Lady Rockets up against Newark High School. Our Rockets took short work in a best 2 out of 3 baker game format winning 2 games straight. The Championship round saw our ladies facing a solid team from Champion High School. The Lady Rockets again came out firing winning 2 games in a row for the championship! Congrats to all that participated!

**Proud Coach’s comments: The format of this Tournament was 5 team members bowling 3 full games of bowling followed by 6 team baker games for qualifying then finished up with 4 more baker games in the finals. To say it was a long day is an understatement. (6-7 hours). The first 3 games was pretty good with only a few struggles on what ended up a somewhat challenging oil pattern. Playable but not necessarily scorable if played incorrectly. The 6 baker games put us on a pair of Lanes that was not forgiving at all! All of our bowlers struggled but kept it together to qualify 2nd overall. Our Ladies came out strong in the first semi-final match vs. Newark and took care of business to advance to the finals. The first game of the championship match vs. Champion found us trailing early but we were able to capitalize on some mistakes by Champion and got the first win. The 2nd game of the championship match also had us behind early but then went ahead a little half way through the game. A very good delivery by one of our team members resulted in horrible pin action leaving an 8 pin. The following spare attempt was errant resulting in a miss and allowing Champion to make the match even. The miss was probably due to a pressure situation that resulted in a tense bowler. This bowler that had a very solid performance all day now saw it end in on shot. This is where, like a lot of sports, you would likely see a momentum swing to the opponent. But that wasn't going to happen! As the bowler made her way back to her teammates.. she apologized to all of them where one young lady said no.. hold on a second and that this is a team sport and that it's ok.. we got you. The rest would be history. That open frame was followed up by two strikes and a solid tenth frame performance to seal the championship.

The week before this tournament was challenging for our girls as we had three matches (with three wins) but alot of struggles were had and seemed like the team's moral was down. We had a heart-to-heart conversation on Friday at practice, pretty much laying it all out on the table to hopefully "right the ship". Said conversation lasted so long that the girls didn't roll a ball that day.

What I watched yesterday at the Muskingum tournament was something special. I know this wasn't a State Championship but this win is awesome and I hope these girls understand what they did. As a coach.. to watch a team never give up under challenging circumstances, supported each other through over 6 hours of competition, and had each other's backs the whole day to earn a hard fought win is a very proud moment for me! I'm sorry for such a long post. Congratulations again to our Lady Rockets! Very proud of you guys and all of our bowlers! Go Rockets!

Got to love it when a college coach sends you a message saying that one of our graduates just bowled a 300 game this morning during practice. This young lady just started learning about bowling 2 years ago. Her first season at Conotton was learning the basics and averaging 145ish. Her second season saw a change to the two-handed style of bowling which she took to very easily and naturally. Now that she's a student at Walsh University and a varsity member of their bowling program... she's deciding to show off her skills! Lol.... Anyways, Congratulations Kendall Schaar! I have a feeling that this is only the beginning of her accomplishments!

Our deepest sympathy, condolences, and prayers go out to his family, friends, bowling teammates, and the Louisville school district itself.

Thomas was a bowler for the Louisville Leopard bowling program. His life was cut short by an automobile accident thursday. He will be deeply missed by everyone.

Grandparents, Parents, Aunts, Uncles, ect.... please don't be afraid to give those Grandkids, Sons, Daughters, Nieces, Nephews, ect a hug even though they think it's weird or gross. Don't be afraid to tell them that you love them even though they may roll their eyes when they turn away. Some day they will understand why you do that and maybe embarrass them a little. Everybody's time on earth is very short compared to the grand scheme of things and the universe. Nobody knows when it's that time for someone to leave our presence and their time in this life is finished.

To any students, athletes, and younger generations that might read this.... cherish every moment of your youth, don't be afraid to take an extra 30 seconds driving somewhere to assure your safety, don't be embarrassed to tell your parents, brothers, sisters, family that you love them... for our time is short and any one of us could be the next one in line for our journey in life to end.

Prayers to Courtney Ann and her bowling program.
