I remember losing my father at 11 and being in a foster home at 12 and I knew that I was going through these things so I could help others who followed that might go through the same things. πŸ™πŸ»β€οΈπŸ™πŸ» I count it a blessing that He walked through those fires with me so I can walk through them with others πŸ™πŸ»β€οΈπŸ™πŸ»

Gods plans for us are far better than we could ever think or imagine if we just let go and let God πŸ™πŸ»β€οΈπŸ™πŸ»

On this Valentines Day trust what is, what isn’t and what’s to come. We can’t always see the path, we just have to be obedient and continue moving forward, one step at a time and be open. Trust and rely, He has the best intentions for us, our lives and our future! πŸ™πŸ»β˜ΊοΈπŸ™πŸ»

Always think before you speak. What you want to say may be true but is it necessary or kind? What’s your intention with your words? Our tongues have the power of life keep death, choose wisely!!! These days
I choose to empower, encourage and lift others up. Often times I decide not to speak at all and that’s growth! I choose to help and not hurt, we all should! πŸ™πŸ»β€οΈπŸ™πŸ»

Even in active addiction it’s hard to let go of the drink/drug that you’ve depended on or have made your best friend. What’s next, what’ll happen, how will I…. Let me tell you from experience, when you let go and surrender, miracles happen, relationships are restored and the hurt and pain slowly begin to heal. But first we have to let go. Don’t suffer in silence. Reach out, ask for help and begin that beautiful l, restorative journey. We can and we do recover πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™πŸ»

The message in youth group this Sunday was all about learning to Surrender and grow in our relationship with Him. These compliment that message perfectly πŸ™πŸ»β€οΈπŸ™πŸ»

Joy Williams, a Christian artist, sand a song years ago β€œdo they see Jesus in me”. And that’s always been my prayer. You’d know by my actions, not by my words! πŸ™πŸ»β€οΈπŸ™πŸ» still my prayer twenty plus years later πŸ™πŸ»β€οΈπŸ™πŸ»

I’ve always loved the saying β€œyou can’t fill from an empty cup”. Since becoming a mom, single mom and doing the work that I do in the SUD field, I feel this, respect it and follow it fairly regularly otherwise I wouldn’t be effective at my job πŸ™πŸ»β˜ΊοΈπŸ™πŸ»

Be Still is one of my favorite verses. It’s not easy to do but it’s most beneficial.

And don’t steal that pen. Gods not done with you yet. It’s hard to let go but when you do, beautiful things happen πŸ™πŸ»β€οΈπŸ™πŸ»

Everything always points to pausing and praying. That’s where our power is.

On Page 87 of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, we are encouraged: β€œAs we go through the day we pause, when agitated or doubtful, and ask for the right thought or action.”

Remember to pause and pray πŸ™πŸ»β€οΈπŸ™πŸ»

When you need to take the time, take the time. And don’t feel bad about it πŸ™πŸ»

Best way to start your day is spending time with Him and looking inward. I then ask Him to direct my steps for the day, to guide my words and thoughts and help me to be His vessel πŸ™πŸ»β€οΈπŸ™πŸ»

Here’s some positivity for the upcoming New Year.
My favorite is about healing and letting go of the past. We can’t change what happened to us whether we were kids or as adults, we cannot control others behaviors towards us. But the power is what we do with that. Stop holding onto things that hurt. Let go. Forgive and begin the healing process. It’s beautiful and your worth it!!! πŸ™πŸ»β€οΈπŸ™πŸ»

Anyone interested in this class there is still time to register. If you have tuition reimbursement and work in the field I would highly recommend this class. We talk about physiology of addiction, contributing factors such as trauma, genetics, untreated mental health, ADHD, etc. I also cover the continuum of care and barriers for people finding and sustaining long term recovery.

This is open to the public as well as current Anna Maria students. It’s also online so if you aren’t local, please don’t let that be a barrier to joining!!!

We live in seasons. Some good and some that aren’t so good. β€œThis too shall pass” has always resonated with me and I’ve learned over the years to really appreciate and embrace the good seasons and to weather the not so good because they always pass and β€œjoy comes in the morning”. It’s all about the hills and valleys and knowing no matter what, we are never alone πŸ™πŸ»πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ» Be encouraged if you’re atruggling, this too shall pass. Reach out, ask for help, you are not alone πŸ™πŸ»

If we can’t change a situation we need to change the way we think about it πŸ™πŸ»

Photos from Addiction & Recovery Talks with Tara's post 16/10/2023

I always say that regardless of the tough childhood and upbringing I wouldn’t change it for anything. It has made me who I am today. Today I can help others and say that β€œI understand” or that β€œI’ve been there” and look at me now. We do heal, we can change and we do recover!! Let go and let God. He can lead us to new heights if we allow Him πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™πŸ»
