Dads for Freedom

Unlike other national organizations who claim to stand for liberty while actively trying to impose restrictions that destroy liberty, we here at Dads for Freedom actually stand for freedom.

We understand that parents are passionate about a wide variety of topics and issues; we're parents too. However, we understand that we cannot let our own personal feelings and beliefs invalidate those of others, and we definitely cannot let them trump research and data. When one person's act of freedom restrains the freedom of another, we need to take a step back and find common ground to proceed.

That is why Dads for Freedom is entirely against banning books in schools. To prevent access to age-appropriate materials is to prevent learning and the accumulation of knowledge, especially regarding topics that don't naturally come up in a child's house or community. That doesn't mean parents should be preventing from providing guidance to their children, but it also means that same guidance cannot be forced upon another parent's child.

If every parent in a school was to remove every book in the library that contained something they don't agree with, there would be zero books left in the library. We completely understand that parents want to protect their children, and so do we. But that protection needs to stem from a community that teaches critical thinking instead of restriction of knowledge.

Dads For Freedom is an organization created to address the way our schools and children are being affected by misleading and harmful rhetoric. We aim to provide honest and transparent information that is grounded in reality and is not based on emotion or belief. While emotions and beliefs are completely valid, they are personal to each individual and contribute little to bridging communities torn apart by hyperbole; with no common ground, there is no future for our communities.
