CrewCare would like to get the word out that there is an amazing opportunity for all young women and gender non-binary young people aged 18 – 25 to be mentored as a Stage/Guitar Technician or Tour/Production Manager.

The Push is partnering with Crowded House and Live Nation to create an unparalleled mentorship experience. The initiative focuses on providing opportunities for women and gender non-binary people, who have a historically lower participation rate within Australia’s live entertainment sector, to progress their career pathways within contemporary music.

The successful mentees will be mentored in the roles of Stage Technician and Tour and Production Management. The mentees will be included as official members of the Crowded House touring team, with access to meet regularly with other crew members including industry veterans Nik Tischler, Live Nation’s Vice President of Touring and Logistics and Robert Herr, Crowded House Tour and Production Manager. The program also provides training from Arts Centre Melbourne, which will cover event safety and event bump in/bump out, before heading off on the national tour in April.

a) new provisions for an extra one hour extended trading for dedicated live music and performance venues, as well as
b) special dispensation for musicians loading gear in an out of venues in loading zones under the road rules passing the NSW Legislative Council in Parliament this evening. Many thanks John Graham from the Labor team for these amendments to the legislation.

*No more parking miles away from a venue and dragging your gear a cross-country to start a gig exhausted 🙌💕. MUSOS loading and unloading gear can use loading zones regardless of their vehicle type.

Devastated to not be playing my set at the Milbi Fest in Bundaberg today, and I’m so sorry to you guys that we’re looking forward to seeing me. It would have been my first gig in 6 months. I don’t need to tell you how much the music industry has been decimated over the last two years. I was turned back from the QLD border because I am not vaccinated even though I have a legal medical exemption (for reasons I that are nobody else’s business) and they chose not to recognise that in QLD. I’m not sick, I’m in perfect health, all I wanted to do was turn up and do my job. I’m not anti vax but I am absolutely pro choice and completely dumbfounded by the mandates and the divide that is happening in our country. We need to stick together and demand our freedoms back. Just remember every time a government takes your freedom away they first need to convince you that there’s something terrible to fear. This situation could have been addressed in a multitude of ways that didn’t end in prolonged lockdowns, vax mandates, families destroyed, loss of livelihood, su***de, depression, anxiety and the list goes on. The disease itself didn’t cause of any of this. Our Governments chose this and the mainstream media was massively complicit. All of the above negative outcomes were easily foreseeable. I chose not to speak out at first and haven’t said anything publicly, but now as Dan Andrew’s attempts to pass laws to turn Victoria literally (not figuratively) into a dictatorship, it’s time to speak up for democracy. I don’t care what your vax status is nor should you care what mine is because the truth is you can pass it on to me and I can pass it on to you. We don’t need to argue about our own personal medical decisions while our govt takes away our freedoms possibly forever. We need to unite and protect our human rights. Love and respect.
