Happy Birthday to my Dad! 🎉🎉
The epitome of a great man and father. He lifts me up when I’m down and is always there for me no matter what.
And he’s been putting up with silliness and my theatrics since day 1 😂
Forever a Daddy’s girl ❤️
Love you Daddy!

The Super Bowl is almost here!

Here’s my Black History fact of the day, Super Bowl edition. 🏉🏉

Did you know?

Doug Williams was the first African American Quarterback to start and win a Super Bowl.

At Super Bowl XXII, Williams led the Washington Redskins (now Commanders) to a 42-10 win against the Denver Broncos in 1988.

He also became the first player in Super Bowl history to pass for four touchdowns in a single quarter and was named Super Bowl MVP. 🏆

Good Morning lovely people!

Yesterday I covered the Danville Transit System’s new bus wrap unveiling. The bus is covered with photos of 13 local African American trailblazers from the past and present who broke barriers and made history in Danville.

That leads me to today’s Black history fact of the day.

One face you’ll see on that bus is Division Chief Shelby Irving.
In 1987 she became Danville’s first female firefighter.
She later became the city’s first African American chief officer in 2004.
She is currently the highest ranking African American officer in the fire department.

Thank you for your service!

Today is the first day of Black History Month!

Here’s a Black history fact about one of my heroes.

My queen, my grandmother, Mary Gilbert Holmes.

She spent over 50 years serving the Lynchburg community as a Registered Nurse. She was one of the first African American nurses hired at UVA Health in a Charge Nurse position, and one of the first African American nurses employed in the Central Virginia Health District (CVHD).

I honor you today and everyday.❤️
I’m so grateful to be apart of your legacy.
