Tyler is my son and he has Autism.
Tyler struggles in maintaining friendships. (So do I, so who am I to judge.)
Tyler has a sensitivity to light. He constantly turns off lights in the house even if I am using them. 🤦🏾♀️ 🤣
I could say he is SUPER interested in video games, but that could be any teenager.
89% of the time Tyler prefers routine. There isn’t much routine in our home, but in school routine is important.
When Tyler was younger if you cried he would struggle to understand your emotions. As a child one time I was so angry about him, because he kept opening the front door without my permission. I chewed his little 5-year-old butt out. When I finish he burst out laughing. I had to then explain facial expressions to him. Once we started fostering dogs all his issue with empathy were better. He still struggles with it. Holidays like birthdays and Mother’s Day aren’t high on his interest list. I rarely get gifts from him.
He doesn’t struggle with repetitive behaviors like rocking or arm flapping.
