Through Intuitive Bodywork, combining manual therapy and the guidance of tarot, Anima Alignment seeks to help clients release faulty holding patterns (somatic and energetic) and correct imbalances.
Every Saturday at 10am I will now be teaching a stretch and recover Pilates reformer and mat class. We start with a full body cardiovascular and strengthening warm up to build heat in the body and prepare tissue for more lengthened positions and then move to slower eccentric activation and elongation of different muscle groups and finish with self-release using lacrosse balls ☺️
Pilates + Massage are a great combo if you suffer from chronic pain. Pilates private sessions teach the body how to hold the balanced alignment achieved in a bodywork session and take it further. The neuromuscular re-education (aka breaking bad habits) inherent in every Pilates session will help eliminate faulty biomechanical strategies and create more strength, eventually allowing for not only pain relief but better posture, balance, elevated mood and beyond. Finding your inner strength = self-empowerment, that is reflected inside and out! 🙏🏼
HEY HAPPY FRIYAY!! ERRBODY LOOK UP IT’S THE WEEKEND!! 🤩
Your head weighs around 10-12 Lbs. Normally, our spine is meant to handle this weight without issue, as long as we are in proper alignment. The further your head drops forward in space (putting cervical spine into flexion) the more pounds of pressure it places on the structures of the entire spine but especially your cervical region. Over time, this repetitive action creates imbalances in the flexors and extensors, shortening the anterior and lengthening the posterior to excess and weakening both. The top of the spine is much higher up than we imagine it to be (see subsequent slides) and understanding this can help when trying to correct for optimal posture. The C1 and C2 vertebrae, called the Atlas and axis respectively, are uniquely shaped vertebrae that allow the skull to balance and pivot. They happen to sit almost along the same horizontal line as the roof of your mouth. As we sit and look at our devices day to day, can you stay curious about where the back of the roof of your mouth is and whether or not it feels aligned over the the rest of your spine? Instead of thinking about where your chin is, try thinking of lifting the back of the roof of your mouth to the sky and see if that makes a difference in your posture and allows you to move your head with more freedom!
Images 3, 4, 5 have the Atlas highlighted in green. Image 6 has the Axis highlighted so you can see the odentoid process (or dens) that protrudes superiorly which the Atlas fits onto and pivots around.
