We can't get enough of these visuals from Glucose Goddess as it's helpful to see the impact that oatmeal can have on your blood glucose levels.
We know what you're thinking. Oatmeal? But that's one of the healthiest brekkies going around, right? Well, it depends on how you look at it.
Oatmeal is often considered a "healthier" option (when you compare it to something like Cornflakes) because it has a lower glycemic index (low GI).
While the GI Index is a helpful tool that shows you how quickly or slowly sugar will be released into the blood stream, at the end of the day, ANY food containing a significant amount of carbohydrates is likely to cause a spike in blood glucose levels (and one serving of oatmeal with low fat milk can often have over 7 teaspoons of sugar)! 📈😖
Remember, a high blood sugar is still high blood sugar, no matter how long it took to get there!
Eating low carb food means eating a lower total amount of carbohydrates each day, which will minimise the impact on blood sugar levels. 🥦🥑🥩🍳
Here's an idea 👉 Try swapping your morning oatmeal for our Coconut Chia Breakfast Pudding instead.
👇 Comment below if you've seen a difference in your blood glucose levels after making the swap!
