Boreal Workshop
Tansi, Boozhoo, Hello. Indigenous family business hand making fine jewellery & functional art Personal consultation services
This past year we didn’t get out to many in person events but we were so happy to take part in two community events in Fisher River and Peguis. Believe it or not we have a few of these shiny lovelies to ship out, check the website and treat yourself.
🎁🎄🤶🏽🔥
Warm their heart with these sweet hammered gold earrings. Perfect for your special someone.
From all of us at the workshop, we wish you and yours a warm and merry solstice. We are shipping orders from the website until December 20.
Today was hard but full of love and family. I am the first generation in my family not to attend Residential or Day School. My family is dealing with very real and current impacts directly related to intergenerational trauma, systemic racism, and harms caused by systems designed to eradicate Indigenous Peoples on Turtle Island.
My kids received a lot of hugs today, the hugs that my mom, her mom, and myself didn’t receive enough of. Tonight I will go to bed knowing my children are safe. Tomorrow I will keep working to keep them safe and focus on good things.
To all my Indigenous relations, take care of yourself however you need to. I hope you are surrounded by love today. Ekosi.
Delivering floral copper cuffs to my beautiful ikwe auntie tomorrow
Boreal Workshop supports and stands with LGBTQ2S communities, we believe love is for everyone and we stand with our relations against dog whistle rhetoric designed to divide and promote hatred. 🤎✊🏽
I have been trying to fill my days with good things yet I am missing my home and other half of my family. Working hard to get home by Halloween and I’ll be hanging bats and carving pumpkins with my sweetheart and children.
I’m away from the shop for the next month, my days are full of good people and Rez dogs and visiting and eating with family and friends. The stories I am gathering will be reflected in this winter’s work. I have my children, my husband, and a good life.
Boreal Workshop is an Indigenous family business and we signed the pledge today.
The work we do is directly related to our responsibility to the land and water and all of our relations, we support indigenous led and indigenous informed business and tourism.
This weekend the Pinawa Art gallery has a guest artist Fat Daug-Hand carved antler jewelry is here in Pinawa all weekend 🎉🎉🎉
So excited to attend the Métis pointillism workshop on Sunday, li waazayn!
On Sunday we went to the 2023 Winnipeg Folk Festival and picked up some handmade goodies from Charlies Charmed Boutique Anishinaabe Girl and Lounge Lakers (stay tuned for pictures of me wearing my cool new fashions!)…we ate good food, I fangirled over indigenous leaders, ran into old friends, we listened to great music, and the thunderbirds did not roost for the day. Perfect.
This evening I went for a drive with nitanis and we visited the lake our relations and nations have connection to. I love lake Winnipeg and it makes me sad to see it suffering and that people litter the shores. I told nitanis this is where our people have always been and always will be. Interconnection and understanding our relationship to the land and water is key to who we are.
After a quick trip home to do some work in the shop we will head back to harvest medicine for our family and those who can’t harvest their own. The land and water inform who we are and the work we do.
Shout out to all the makers here today in Fisher River Cree Nation at the women’s gathering. Come on down if you are in Treaty Five territory, there is fine work on display!
We are at the gathering in Fisher River Cree Nation and it is exactly the medicine needed. Visiting family and friends and seeing beautiful strong Kwe gathered and doing good work is what I needed. Ekosani to my community for hosting this event and creating a space that is safe and loving.
