Being confident in your own skin…

It’s easy when starting a health and fitness programme to only focus on the “after” picture which we all crave. But is this a true measure of whether you have been successful or not..

For some people this may be what they want. To get a crazy physique with unreal abs, boulder shoulders and huge cheese barms and that is absolutely fine and good on them!

However for others, it might be to simply be able to stand on their balcony, pink speedos on, beer in hand and content 🍺🦩

There’s no way on earth that this was the “best shape of my life” for me. But I was happy and I’m okay with that.

We’re all on different paths, at different stages, and as long as you’re happy with where you’re at and where you’re heading, who cares 🤷‍♂️

•CLIENT PROGRESS•

Joe came to me in his “off season.” Joe has started running marathons and was having a break after running 3 over the past 18 months.

He has set himself a goal of running a sub 4 hour marathon this year. His first attempt at that will be the Manchester marathon on the 16th of April.

We have set some targets together and Joe is already smashing through them. Coming from a rugby background Joe naturally has a more ‘stockier’ physique than is necessarily required to run marathons. Our initial goal has been to get his weight down. He has already lost 3kg in a little over 6 weeks 👏

This is just the beginning and I am looking forward to helping Joe as much as I can as he works towards his Marathon goals. Great work pal 🙌

•Personal Note•

Not long to go before the 2023 season starts. Over the last few months (like every single Rugby League player everywhere) we have been going through pre season, which is for most the hardest part of the year.

It’s the time where physically our bodies will adapt and make the most changes ready for the next season. Whether it will be to gain muscle, lose fat, get stronger, get fitter.

We will set our goals out initially and work hard to get there and achieve those goals.

This process is very similar to what you will go through when you want to get “in shape” in the New Year. You will need a plan, you will need some goals and you’ll need to get up and do it (hardest bit).

When your mate asks if you’re keen for a gym session before Christmas 🫠

The days before Christmas and between Christmas and New Year can always be difficult to find times to train or stay active.

It’s a time period in the past which I have always struggled with and ended up losing motivation and binning off training. However this year I have planned my sessions in working round a very busy social schedule 😂🍻

Keeping active over this Christmas period will definitely reduce the guilt that comes with all the over indulgence which we are all about to endure 🦃🍗🍫🍻

•My Personal Journey•

My 12 week progression ⬆️

Over the last 12 weeks I have been following the same methods and implementing the same habits and changes to daily lifestyle that YOU will also be using.

On the left I felt bloated, lacked energy and was just very hit and miss in regards to training intensities and consistency. (My 🍑 looked v hungry too 🥴)

However after 12 weeks I feel the complete opposite to that. Performance in the gym has improved dramatically, I’m a lot stronger, daily habits including walking, training, eating have all improved greatly. This has also lead me to be more focused on my own personal training work and rugby.

There have barely been any changes in my weight, proving weight is NOT everything! My body has definitely changed for the better (in my eyes)🤷‍♂️. But again image is NOT everything, feeling more confident, healthier and happier is a big enough win for me ✅

It just proves the difference simple habits applied over time, can make to our bodies and minds.

Quality bit of training done this weekend with the rugby lads

It’s always good to test yourself in different environments and see how the body reacts. Pushing ourselves outside of our comfort zones was definitely beneficial as well as having a laugh along the way.

•PREPPING•

As I’m back on the road again a lot with rugby and work it’s important that I’m prepping my food to make sure that I’m eating the right food each day.

I constantly used to take a lazy approach towards my nutrition and would always be grabbing a Tesco meal deal (great value btw) or fast food which was clearly hampering my progress.

However an easy way I found was to simply overcook my evening meal so I have enough for my following lunch and evening meal (if I’m going to training).

Some people might see this as boring eating the same meals again but it works for me 🤷‍♂️

Probs cheaper too 💰💰

It’s important for us all to spend time having fun along side working hard. There’s definitely nothing wrong with letting your hair down and enjoying yourself ✌️

“If you burn more calories than you consume then you will reduce your body fat, it’s that simple”

This is most people’s reaction when they hear that. Everyone thinks there’s a special formula to getting into good shape but the reality is being disciplined, moving more and eating less is usually a good place to start.

That being said we’re all human and enjoy a 🍔 or 🍺 but having a plan in place definitely helps in making better choices and not feeling guilty about over indulging.

With less than 8 weeks to go until Christmas and knowing that the festivities will soon be taking over most of our weekends, now is as good of a time as ever to get into a solid routine which will hopefully take away some of that guilt from eating and drinking everything in sight.

Life is always about balance and enjoying ya self 🧘‍♂️

•8 WEEK TRANSFORMATION•

Very proud of what Dan has achieved in his first 8 weeks on the programme. His goals when we set out were to gain muscle, especially in his chest area and to improve his overall health, fitness and well being.

It’s fair to say his results are fantastic and his strength has improved massively. However the best thing about his first 8 weeks in the lifestyle change Dan has managed make. He has upped his training days from 3 to 5 and now goes before work. He feels more energised and it is the best he has felt in years.

Well done Dan, I am looking forward to the next 8 weeks 👏
