The Senate passed a bi-partisan continuing resolution (CR) to fund the gov't thru mid-November, at current levels, with funding for Ukraine too. Kevin McCarthy, Speaker of the House, will not bring it to a vote. It would pass by a large margin. 213 Dems and over 100 Repubs would vote in favor. But, the 15-20 MAGA Repubs that yank his chain would vote him out of his Speaker's job.
So that is why the gov't will be shutting down Sunday.
