I thought this was a cool example that helped visualize the difference between trying to use a file meant for cutting vs using a file meant to draw.

One is a single path design, the pen will draw one single line.

One is a "cut file", the pen will follow the same paths it would when cutting. This results in the "bubble letter" effect.

There is no button you can click to magically change from a cut file to a draw file in Design Space. BUT it's very simple to create in Inkscape or Illustrator.
