It's another Bandcamp Friday! I've added another live set (my recent performance at arkaoda Berlin as part of the Karlrecords concert series) to the BSP Live Series page, which is pwyc, as always (link in comments).

But if you're looking to buy an album proper, whether physical or digital, use the code CRUELESTMONTH at check-out for a 15% discount off everything (that I control, at least). This applies to my solo releases, as well as Nadja, Hypnodrone Ensemble, Caudal, WERL, and Adoran (even if most of those are pwyc dls anyway!)

Unfortunately, we haven't found a cheaper shipping option for overseas vinyl orders, so it's still quite expensive...but hopefully we'll find a solution for that...

Here in Canada it’s national drone day, organized and conceptualized by Weird Canada Thought we’d share , from our 2015 album Children of Mars. Lots of really cool online and in-person events happening across Canada today, if you’re looking for some sonic immersion 🙂

A Closer Listen: a home for instrumental and experimental music

Adoran's Dorian Williamson provides a mix for A Closer Listen: a home for instrumental and experimental music:

https://acloserlisten.com/2017/03/03/lcnl-080-dorian-williamsons-northern-solace/

Suddenly 80 mixes seems like quite a lot. I'm really pleased to hit another significant milestone, after 5 years of ACL and this mix series, I love that I can still be surprised with each new installment. This mix comes from Dorian Williamson (Northumbria, Adoran) and features an excursion into dark ambient and drone that feels really timely. [ 652 more words ]

Adoran - Children Of Mars

Thanks to Ivan Tibos for this great review posted at the Belgian site Concreteweb. Nice to read such a positive shout-out to both Consouling Sounds and the amazing NYC-based artist Karlynn Holland, who created the artwork.

"While the first creation deals with introspective angles of droning and ambient experimental soundwaves, the second one is rather focusing on the intense and overpowering elements of Post-Sludge and Doom-Ambient creationism"

Review: Adoran – Children Of Mars | ATTN:Magazine

"...Adoran fulfil their own prophecy of violent vibration and fracturing impact, forcing upward through the mantle of the earth until a bass drone yawns open, prising apart stereo space and forcing my headphones to double-back on themselves, growing into a fountain of panoramic whirr, percussive crack and reverb-smog."
-Jack Chuter, ATTN:Magazine

Aidan Baker Consouling Sounds

attnmagazine.co.uk Like a volcano about to blow, the opening of Children Of Mars stirs with low frequency tremor and cymbal moan. A slow groove emerges like a hairline fracture running jaggedly through humming stone, the split widening as Aidan Baker strikes his drums ever harder. Gradually Adoran fulfil their own pro…

Adoran: Children of Mars

Huge thanks to Craig Hayes for this very in depth review of "Children of Mars"

“Deimos” and “Phobos” capture that sense of fantastical dreaming perfectly on Children of Mars. The two moons of Mars were originally named after Greek mythological characters; Deimos aligned with dread, and Phobos with fear. I don’t know if Adoran intended to paint a disquieting picture to express dread and fear on Children of Mars, but the album certainly reflects those characteristics."
