This is the first painting I have completed since Grandson Daytin left us; it's been too difficult.
This was done at the request of my sister Phyllis Miller Bassett so the little birds have flown from the mountains of NC to the flatlands of Kansas!
(I hope they'll love the Sunflowers of Kansas!)

I've finally completed the portrait of my grandparents...

My most recent "portrait" and first pet picture. This is Mocha, my friend's fur baby. I decided that I am happy to do pet portrait commissions. Feel free to PM me for rates, etc.

I've just completed a portrait in honor of my brother Richard; he would have had his 80th birthday last month. He left us 37 years ago...cancer. The Dodge Ram emblem represents the muscle truck he drove. 😊

I've not posted in a long time because I've been working on portraits. This one is my handsome husband...more than 60 years ago!

26/01/2023

I've not posted a painting in a while because I've been working on this portrait, what a task! Going forward I will be concentrating on portraits of both people and pets...

This was an interesting challenge...good ole Ben Franklin!

I've just completed an unusual painting...learning to paint hands...I've entitled it - "Show of Strength."

I think the calla lily is my favorite of all flowers; it is elegant, graceful, and beautiful. This one is 8x10", painted in oils.

This friendly fellow has been completed just in time for the Hearts and Crafts sale at Hudson First church Saturday. It is an unframed oval in acrylics. It is SOLD.

I'm having fun with small paintings; these are 6x6" and will be available at The Red Awning gallery or the Hearts and Crafts sale at Hudson First Baptist Church on October 8th to benefit The Toy Store a Ministry of Hudson First. The ones on the left are in acrylic paints, those on the right are in oils. All Sold except the magnolia, dove, sunflower, butterfly, and oriole.

This one was time-consuming and a real challenge! It is 14x20" -- if I remember correctly; it's gone to the Red Awning Gallery. It is painted in acrylics and is for sale for $195.
Mabry Mill is located near Meadows of Dan, VA; don't you love the name of that town? I've never seen it; this was painted from a photo.
May 15, 2023 Update: We stopped in to see this location; it turned out to be a fascinating historical site, well worth the visit!

This little fellow is SOLD.

Okay my Friends, I would love your input on this one; having grown up in the mid-west I love snow scenes. I completed this and showed it to my expert critic, husband Ron, who studied it carefully and then observed, "There's snow in the foreground but not on the mountains!" So, my question is..."should I paint snow on the mountains or keep them these dramatic shades of green/gray/blue?" I'd appreciate any and all opinions; thank you for looking and commenting!

The three latest...the sunrise on the lower right is sold, also the winter scene.

11/06/2021

This snow scene reminds me of Iowa, it's 16x20"; it's SOLD, has made its home in Iowa -- appropriately!

Sunrise in the Mountains, 8x10" SOLD

I've always loved gardening and especially love hydrangeas! It was a joy to paint these; now to get the ones in my garden looking as beautiful! SOLD.

27/04/2021

I tend toward realism in my paintings; this was an effort to become more "loose," using my favorite colors. 🙂 SOLD

13/04/2021

My latest painting; this one was fun! It too has sold, making its home in Iowa.
