Helping parents manage their kid's technology and social media usage.
Happy 40th Birthday to me! 🥲
Don’t Sweat the Techs!!! I’m here to help 🙋🏽♀️
As a school counsellor, I’ve educated a lot of children on social media through dangers, etiquette, respect, security, and more 📱
My social media and technology program will give you the tools you need to identify biases, build trust and create a social media and technology plan that will help you reach your goal of raising well-rounded, disciplined children who can handle the pressures of living in a digital society.
Look, social media is here to stay. The sooner you learn these things, the less likely these technology pitfalls will affect your child…

Here are some ideas 💡 of rules (or boundaries) you can put in place for your kids when using their phones.
It’s important to do this before we give them access to any screens.
What other rules do you know? Share in the comments so we can all learn from other parents 👇🏾
You need to try this trick!!
And it will not only help your kids by improving their sense of direction, but you can try it yourself every now and then.
We have become so dependent on our phones -including its GPS- that we’ve lost our capacity to memorise numbers, addresses and any type of data.
So, try this trick and let me know how it goes 😉
Have you checked if your kids have deleted messages on their phones? 👀
Some people may say by doing this, you’re invading their privacy; the truth is,… you’re not!
As long as we’re the responsible adults who look out for our kid’s well-being, we have the right AND responsibility to check how they manage any technology devices.
Do you agree with this?
Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
A car ride is a perfect situation for practicing positive affirmations ❤️
I’ve been practicing this a lot with my kids and the results are just awesome!
Some affirmations you can practice with yours could be:
🔸I am an amazing person
🔸I am enough
🔸My challenges help me grow
🔸I am smart
🔸I am a great listener
🔸I am loved
Try this for a week and come back to this post and let me know how did it go 🤓
Do you know the meaning of these two?
👉🏽A Bystander is that person who will witness situations of bullying but won’t do anything about it, won’t get involved.
👉🏽Whilst an Upstander knows what’s happening, knows that is wrong and has tools to do something about it and help the situation.
What type are your kids?

Pay attention to the red flags 🚩
We can notice certain behaviors in our kids that tell us if they’re going through a bad situation, and that includes if they’re having issues with social media.
So, make sure you open your eyes to these behaviors and take the right actions to help your kids out.
Have your kids had any issues with social media before? Let me know in the comments ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Communication is key ☝🏽
By having conversations with your kids about:
🔸What is bullying?
🔸What is cyber-bullying?
🔸What to do if they’re bullied?
🔸What to do if someone else is bullied?
🔸When to stand for themselves?
🔸When to inform an adult about a situation?
You’re not only teaching them to be better digital citizens, but you’re helping the whole community with your example.
Let’s talk with our kids about cyber-bullying! ✅✅✅
Good communication will always be key 🔑
The more we talk with our kids the better our relationship will be with them.
And one of the topics we need to introduce in those conversations is the good use of technology and phones.
Do you talk about this with your kids?
Don’t be afraid of over-explaining things to your kids.
Especially new things as the use of social media.
It’s something new for them, so we need to be patient when teaching them these things, and repeat as much as necessary.
What you’re teaching your kids today will determine how they behave the rest of their lives!
This is probably one of the first things you need to tell your kids before they start using social media ☝🏽
Danger is not only physical but we’re exposed to online danger too!
Would you like me to talk more about this topic?
Playing outside is one of the best experiences any kid could ever have!!
Enjoying nature, meeting friends, making up games, and having many laughs are definitely something we don’t want our kids to miss, right?
Let’s encourage them to turn their screens off and go play outside!
Do you encourage your kids to this? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
(Make sure you follow rules or be aware of Covid-19 restrictions of your local government).
When you decide to take the phone off your kids…
It’s very likely that they’re going to be upset 😨
They’re going to be angry before they understand the why. So, make sure you’re prepared for these situations in advance ☝🏽
I wanted to show you this conversation I had with my kids and show you how I teach them to have correct use of technology 💁🏻♀️
See how kids are receptive to everything you say to them?
We need to be able to have their full attention, make it easy to understand, and fun.
How much time do you spend with your kids talking about the use of social media or technology?
This one-trick will change your life!
And your kid’s life as well.
Any type of screens they’re using at night, such as tablets, phones or tv emit what it’s called as ‘blue light’, that contributes to not-very-good quality sleep.
So, the sooner they turn these screens off before going to bed, the better!
Try it and let me know how it goes 💁🏻♀️
Bullying is one of the problems our kids might have to deal with when using social media, and we need to be prepared for that.
Actually, THEY need to be prepared for that.
Teaching our kids what to do, how to stand for themselves, and what actions to take when being bullied is essential.
Have you dealt with bullying on social media? How did you handle it?
