2024 Developmental Disability Day at the FL Capitol
Yesterday the APD team and Director Hatch joined partners and stakeholders in celebrating 2024’s Developmental Disability Day at the Capitol. What an amazing day it was, Director Hatch and team had the opportunity to meet so many incredible individuals and families who are making a positive impact in their communities. A big thank you to the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council for all that you do to make DD Day special to many, we are grateful. #APDcares #DDAwareness2024

Earlier this week APD Florida (Agency for Persons with Disabilities), Florida Department of Education, CareerSource Florida, and The Florida Department of Commerce joined together to highlight the exceptional employers around the state of Florida who are hiring hardworking individuals with unique abilities. We also had the privilege in hearing directly from some incredible individuals where they shared their story on how employment has made a positive difference in their lives. 🤍

Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day started at the Capitol where APD spoke to hundreds of children about careers in the medical field. In the afternoon the agency hosted children with games and activities while highlighting different APD careers.

#FBF to Developmental Disabiliites Awareness Day and Transportation Disadvantaged Day on February 14! APD had a great time down at the Capitol. Director Palmer spoke to the crowd about the importance of developmental disabilities awareness.

On March 14, Governor Scott and the Cabinet declared March Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month in Florida. Both Chick-fil-A employee Adam Longfellow and Jon Shell, brother of Jeff’s Corner owner Jeff Shell, spoke on the significance of employment services for people with disabilities and the personal impact those services have in their lives.

Today, APD staff joined Governor Scott, members of the Florida National Guard, various veterans’ groups and staff from other agencies to clear debris in the aftermath of Hurricane Hermine. #APDcares
