We’ve been working hard for bird # 1️⃣3️⃣ this season!!

After several mornings of going away empty handed, we switched things up for a mid-day hunt with no decoys and very little calling and this fella came in silently looking for a lonely hen. Fantastic day in the turkey woods!! 🦃

The 2024 turkey season closed today at noon…

Always a bittersweet moment, but it was another good one for our hunt club.

Lots of sunrises, a few “first” moments, several close chances and of course 8 tags punched on our watch.

It was an incredible 25 days and we definitely made the most of it all!! 👊🏼

Now we’ll wind up the season and then focus our eyes to the sky for Fall!! 🦆

Ron would have been 79 years old today.

He definitely would have been out in the either trying to fill his own tags, or trying to help someone else fill theirs. 🦃

He is missed dearly, but his legacy lives on in our hunt club and his contributions will never be forgotten.

Stephen () arrived at the house yesterday afternoon with three priorities to accomplish.

1. Punch his Ontario Turkey tag 🏷️🥊

2. Pick up the new RX2 shotgun that he won from in our Spring sticker draw 💥

3. Catch up with old friends 🍻

He accomplished both in short fashion and was back on the road to get to his son’s hockey tryouts before the knew what hit them.

After the Tom we had been targeting walked off with his hens for the morning, Stephen dropped the hammer on one of the two Jakes that wouldn’t leave our decoy alone.

He left the house a very happy man!! 👊🏼

Our good friend Mike Walters () is something of a in the Ontario Turkey hunting circles.

He’s been hunting Spring wild turkey every year since 1985 and has won several calling contests, helped with and events and has hunted wild turkey all over the United States as well.

Those who know him can expect an update from “Turkey Central” on his social media each morning and we’re pleased to report that today Mike got his first Quebec gobbler on a mid morning spot and stalk!!

We’ve been trying to coordinate him and his wife Gladys getting up here with us in Quebec for several years, so it’s nice to finally have them here for a couple of days.

When club member Mark () wanted to bring his brother up from Newfoundland to try and shoot his first turkey, we put the dates on the calendar and started planning an weekend at our outpost camp.

After two very close calls yesterday, the boys “plowed” down a couple of beautiful Toms as they doubled up this morning!!

What an unforgettable experience for a pair of brothers!! 👊🏼
