Here we are on Saturday... a day of resting, catching up on work around the house and playing with the small human.
I also like to reflect on the week I’ve had and prepare for the next week.
📝 Reflections from this week?!
We have A LOT going on right now .. I can’t even list them all but a move is one of the BIG things. 🏡 I was constantly reminded of this scripture before bed this week:
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
~ Philippians 4:6
Whether you believe in God, a Higher Power, Fate... doesn’t matter. We have to give our worries and anxieties in life away before we can have proper rest.
Being a child of the 90s, I had worry dolls. I used them a lot and I never knew the impact of them (a common theme this week) until now.

🎶 Let’s talk music 🎶
How many of you listen to music before falling asleep? 😴
💊 I was in my teen years when my sleep took a terrible dive and I was prescribed medication to help me sleep.
🎻 I played violin in years prior (wish I would’ve kept that up - but, I digress) and always loved Pachelbel’s Canon in D. I would play it on my DISCMAN (did I just age myself 😅) to help calm me down before the meds would kick in.
Thinking of it now - did the meds do it or the music?!
It took me several years to be able to finally not need meds to sleep. Now, I resort to as natural ways as possible.

You know what they say about the best laid plans?!? ... 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Last night, and several previous nights, the kid fought sleep for 2 hours before finally settling. 🙃
Then at 1:15, she woke up screaming like she had a night terror. It took two adults and 45 minutes to calm her. 😔

🛌 So in honour of her going to bed right now, I am also going to go with the gift of time and put this tired mama to bed. 😴

I’ll be Live tomorrow to make up for today... I leave y’all with this quote...

💤 Sleep routines... what are yours?!

Sometimes when I am SO tired I don’t even bother to wash my face. 🧼

BUT then I wake up in the middle of the night and NEED to wash my face. 🤦🏼‍♀️ My sleep is disrupted and then I need to start all over again.

Tips for a better night’s sleep:

✔️ Start turning away from screen time up to 2 hours before bed, a minimum of 30 minutes before bed
- screens emit blue light that disrupt the production of melatonin
✔️ Establish a routine that is short and simple
- your brain will associate the routine with sleep
✔️ If you can’t fall asleep within 20 minutes, get out of bed and do a low light, low stimulating activity (ex. Reading)
- the longer you stay tossing and turning in bed the more likely your brain will associate restlessness with bed

The end of the deep freeze is here! Tonight treat yourself to a warm bath.
Here’s a recipe that I’m using:

1 cup Epsom Salt
1 cup Sea Salt
1/2 tsp Lavender Essential Oil
1/2 tsp Peace & Calming Essential Oil
4 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
Once mixed, store in a glass container and enjoy.

Get ready, get set to love on yourself this week. We live in a hectic world and sometimes, even finding 5 minutes for ourselves seems impossible. This week, we are making ourselves a priority. I’ll be live after work today to kick off the week; but let’s start here: what are some of your favourite things to do to have “me time?” For me, it’s getting outdoors. Even when it’s -500 degrees. If I’m stressed, I get outside.

Honestly have to say... this kid... MY kid... drinks more water than I do. 🤯

I tried very hard this week to get my 3 bottles in... I may not have met my daily goal but what I am MORE aware of is the fact that I know I need to drink more water.

So where do we go from here??
- I drink more water in the morning, so I know I need to get two bottles in before lunch time
