Celebrate Crystal Mason The Fight's recent aquittal (see our post, below, for more details) with an encore listen of our episode with Crystal and Shellie Hayes McMahon.

This episode originally ran on March 25, 2022. Last month, Crystal was finally acquitted. In the words of her attorney:

“Crystal and her family have suffered for over six years as the target of a vanity project by Texas political leaders. We’re happy that the court saw this for the perversion of justice that it is, but the harm that this political prosecution has done to shake Americans’ confidence in their own franchise is incalculable.” --Defense Attorney, Alison Grinter Allen

One update and one silly thing:

Update: Missy is healing well after her surgery and we're excited to get back on schedule soon. We have two pre-recorded episodes we haven't released yet so we'll be launching those in the weeks ahead and are going to get back to recording new episodes for 2024. Yay!

Silly thing: We're doing some pod housekeeping during our down time. One task involves taking advantage of our editing software's new AI "episode description" feature to update all our You Tube video descriptions.

This description for Episode 128 with Briar Dougherty is about the most perfect summary of our podcast I've ever seen.

Nutshell: "Guest tries to impart valuable information while hosts go off on tangents about their favorite TVs shows."

27/09/2023

A quick update on Missy. Her original surgery date had to be rescheduled since she came down with covid, so today is the day. Her husband sent me a note to let me know she went back to surgery at 3pm and it's supposed to take about 2.5 hours.

Whether you're seeing this during her surgery, or in the days, and weeks of healing that follow, please send a good thought her way. 💟

🎧 NEW EPISODE 🎧

We're back from our Summer Sabbatical (kind of - more about that in the episode.)

Our guest this week, Keely Pierce, helps us learn how to move from chaos to calm, no matter how you define your "norm" level of chaos. She also teaches us about matrescence: the physical, psychological and emotional changes you go through after the birth of your child.

As a perfect demonstration of blending chaos and matrescence, we recorded this episode while Keely's sister was in labor and likely wondering where her birthing partner was. (Spoiler alert: she made it - and look at precious baby Jack!)

In the spirit of Look, Listen, Learns, 👀 look below for ways to 🎧 listen to the episode and 💡 learn more about Keely!

Hello, Mom &… Podcast friends, I wanted to share a life update with you. (This is Missy, btw.) During our podcast summer break I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer. It was not quite the end to summer vacation I had in mind!

My cancer was found during a routine mammogram. They noticed a spot that was not there a year ago, and I feel so much gratitude for everyone at who took it seriously. I am thankful this was caught early, and is very treatable. I am having a double mastectomy next week, and that will likely be the end of my treatment. Things won't be fun & games for a little while, but everything will be okay. I have a lot of peace about the plan, and have excellent doctors on my team.

I know it’s not October yet, and we’re a month away from your socials turning pink, but… please schedule your annual mammogram. If you do it now, you’ll beat the rush of people calling during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 🍒

As for the show, we know we’re just coming off a one-month break, but this curveball means we aren’t quite back to our regular schedule. We do have some new episodes lined up, and we’ll release them every other week for a while. Once I’m on the other side of surgery and get through the first couple weeks of recovery, we will reassess our schedule and let you know when to expect the next new batch of episodes.

Now, go schedule your mammogram! 🍈🍈

🎶 Vacation, all I ever wanted. Vacation, had to get away. ← Sing it with us!

🥰 We are so lucky to do what we do, and still pinch ourselves every week when we interview our amazing guests. Even when you love what you do, though, it’s important to take breaks. We are giving ourselves a little vacation, with a month off while Susanne takes her daughter to college, and we both take some trips with family and friends.

📝 While we’re away, we have some homework for you: catch up with any episodes you’ve missed so far this year, or go back and re-listen to some of your favorites. We listen to every episode several times over before releasing them, and we still sometimes forget things. Over the next month we'll post links to the episodes we mention in THIS episode, but you can find all of our episodes in the link below.

☕️ Speaking of forgetting things… we have an opportunity for you to WIN A MOM &... PODCAST MUG: Can you find the episode where our guest recommends going back through all of your past job roles to identify what you liked or didn’t like about each? We are struggling to remember which episode that was, and we’d really like to thank the guest. Her advice helped Susanne find clarity and… a job!
