This was our last cake of 2023 and how very fitting for us AND the graduate! We both finished the year STRONG!
Congratulations on your graduation dear!
This sweet auntie could not attend the graduation but still wanted to commemorate her niece’s accomplishments. So she messaged us and gave us free rein on design and flavor. Her only restriction was to make it pretty and keep it a secret until she delivers the cake to her niece.

What to do on a cold and snowy New Year’s Eve? Bake Baklava!
This is a trial bake. We put in too much nuts and not enough layers of phyllo dough in between. It is still a sweet, nutty and delicious dessert with a crispy top.
That phyllo dough was hard to work with. They’re paper thin sheets of dough that dries out really fast. So, one must be fast and gentle because that dough is FRAGILE.
There are many versions of Baklava but it originates from Turkey, Greece and the Middle East. The most common is layers of phyllo dough and a nut filling of walnuts and pistachios. This crispy and delicious dessert is baked then soaked in a honey syrup. That syrup is also different from region to region but honey is the common ingredient.
Then it got us thinking…what if…we made it Asian style 😱

About Us
Ted was a professional chef for 17 years. He really enjoys creating delicious and aesthetically pleasing meals. He is currently the personal chef for his family.
Zoua has always enjoyed baking cakes for her children’s birthdays. Their smiles from ear to ear is always worth the effort!
