Stay Safe : Hotel Room Credit Card Phone Call Scam

Scammers place phone calls to hotel rooms to dupe guests into giving up their credit card info.

You arrive at your hotel and check in at the front desk. When checking in, you give the front desk your credit card information (for all the charges for your room). You get to your room and settle in. Someone calls the front desk and asks, for example, for room 620 (which just happens to be your room). Your phone rings in your room. You answer, and the person on the other end says the following, ‘This is the front desk. When checking in, we came cross a problem with your charge card information. Please re-read me your credit card number and verify the last 3 digits numbers on the reverse side of your charge card.’
Not thinking anything unusual, you might give this person your information, since the call seems to come from the front desk. But
actually, it is a scam. Someone is calling from someplace other than the hotel front desk. They ask for a random room number, then, sounding very professional, ask you for credit card information and address information. They are so smooth, you will think you are talking to the front desk.
If you ever encounter this problem in your travels, tell the caller that you will come down to the front desk to clear up any problems. Then, go to the front desk and ask if there was a problem. If there was none, inform the manager of the hotel that someone acting like a front desk employee called to scam you of your credit card information.

To Launch The World's Largest Underwater Theme Park Including A Sunken 747 Jumbo Jet

Bahrain will launch the world’s largest underwater theme park with a sunken Boeing 747 as its headliner attraction. The underwater theme park opening this Summer will ultimately cover 25 acres and will be developed as the ultimate diving experience.

Located between the Qatar Peninsula and the Eastern Coast of Saudi Arabia, the arabian Gulf country has been booming as one of the friendliest Arab countries for foreign tourists to visit. Aside from its famed forts and the 400-year-old Tree of Life, the tourism sector is growing at a fast pace. And now, Bahrain’s President of the Supreme Council for Environment, Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, partnered with the Bahrain Tourism and exhibitions Authority as well as private investors to create the extravagant new dream project.
The premiere diving site will offer up the largest submerged airplane in the world and will be the focal point of the diving attraction. Other features will include a submerged replica of a traditional Bahraini pearl merchant’s house, artificial coral reefs and other sculptures that have been placed underwater as a safe haven for coral growth and as a habitat for marine animals according to the Council.

The project will hopefully attract diving enthusiasts from around the world, as well as help researchers, looking to obtain information and data on marine ecology and biology. The UAE also announced plans last year to create the largest coral garden in the world along the coast of Fujairah. Expected to break the Guinness World Record, it will provide a safe place for biodiversity to rehabilitate ecosystems.
This announcement comes on the heels of another theme park for women only.

A massive influx of development catered to the tourism sector includes more than $20 billion of hotel construction contracts including projects such as The Address Harbour Point, MGM Resorts and Warner Bros hotels in Dubai, and Marriott Resort Ras Al Khaimah. Also, a new passenger terminal at Bahrain International Airport will help strengthen demand for new tourists with more international flights added. 22 new hotels will also be launched over the next three years as well as five new beachfront properties along Bahrain Bay.
One of the most exciting new projects is the 250-room Shangri-La Hotel, with 150 suites, eight beach chalets, and 21 waterfront villas opening in 2022. The property will be part of the Bahrain Marina waterfront development and will include a marina and yacht club.

Following directives from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to give maximum priority to oil exploration operations to increase the country’s resources, as part of the comprehensive development march spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Higher Committee for Natural Resources and Economic Security, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, put forward the detailed exploration plans.

The committee followed up on the implementation of its plans through harnessing the potentials of the national oil companies to double the exploration and excavation activities, which resulted in the discovery of the largest discovery of oil in the kingdom’s history.

HRH the Crown Prince and members of the Higher Committee for Natural Resources and Economic Security extended deepest congratulations to HM King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, following the discovery of the new resource which is forecast to contain highly significant quantities of tight oil that by far exceed those of the Bahrain Field, in addition to the discovery of large quantities of deep gas.

The new oil field, discovered during HM King Hamad’s prosperous era, has been the first since 1932, when the first oil field was inaugurated in Bahrain during the era of the late HH Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and since then the oil resources have been devoted to enhancing Bahrain’s development process.

Following the issuance of the Royal directives to intensify the exploration activities, the Higher Committee for Natural Resources and Economic Security requested the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) and national oil companies to use the best available excavation technology, which resulted in the excavation of a number of oil fields over the past period, in cooperation with world companies.

The new field will increase Bahrain’s competitive potentials, and enable it to carry on implementing its development projects and initiatives, as well as honouring its commitments to friendly countries and global financial markets.

HRH the Crown Prince gave directives to NOGA to determine the feasibility of extractable quantities from this new field and to develop plans for its development over time, taking into account the geological nature of the site and the production costs to ensure that that it contributes to the kingdom’s natural resources and development march.

HRH the Crown Prince commended the efforts exerted by all sector affiliates for implementing the directives of HM King Hamad and the plans of the Higher Committee for Natural Resources and Economic Security, which led to achieving such results.

NHRA announces 14 medical facilities for expat health checks

,The CEO of Bahrain’s National Health Regulatory Authority, Dr. Maryam Al Jalahma, today announced that fourteen medical facilities across Bahrain have been granted permission to conduct medical health checks for expatriate workers seeking employment in the Kingdom.

Dr. Al Jalahma also outlined a range of requirements that medical facilities must fulfil in order to qualify for the service. These standards cover different operational and administrative aspects, including inspection facilities, laboratories, and high-tech medical devices and X-ray machines.

From a technical aspect, CEO Al Jalahma also highlighted that private medical facilities will utilise an integrated electronic system to transfer medical results and data directly to the Ministry of Health. This will allow the Ministry to process applications swiftly, while improving coordination with the LMRA, the entity responsible for issuing residency permits in the Kingdom.

Al Jalahma spoke of ongoing coordination amongst various government departments as part of the preparatory work for the new system. She stressed that new measures concerning expatriate health checks will reduce the waiting time to receive an appointment from three months to just one week. The timeframe currently required to issue a medical certificate will also be reduced from one month to one week following the completion of health checks.

Two types of services for expatriate health checks at licensed private medical facilities:
- Standard service: under this service appointments are given based on the availability across the approved private medical facilities. The service costs BHD 20

- Premium service: an employer is allowed to choose from a wide range of private medical facilities. It includes medical services and other services such as transportation and customer care assistance. The cost is subject to the standard rate of the medical facility (service provider)

The full list of private medical facilities will be announced soon on the web portals of the eGov, LMRA, and the Ministry of Health.
