Walter Hunt 4th of July 3k Road Race
The Walter Hunt 4th of July Road Race is a fun and fast 3k road race that occurs along the 4th of July parade route, from Brewer to Bangor Maine.
Proceeds benefit local college and high school running camp scholarship, and July 4 fireworks.

Good morning, Attention Walter Hunt 4th of July race participants we have some event changes we're working on!
We recently learned from the City of Bangor that the walking bridge at the end of the traditional Walter Hunt course will not be available for the event on July 4. The race committee is working on an alternate finish to the course. Once we've made some measurements and have final instructions we'll post another update.
Also, thanks to updated CDC guidelines we are able to have a traditional mass race start. If you are not vaccinated, we ask that you wear a buff or mask for the race start. If you are registered, and feel uncomfortable with a mass start, contact Johanna Szillery or Joe Roberts via FB message, and we can provide a refund. Refunds must be requested in advance of the race.
We hope all our participants can be understanding of these changes. The volunteers organizing the race are working hard to pull details together, in a public heath environment that has changed a fair amount in the last 3 months.
Final note, there is a 200-person limit to this race (race closes when this is reached, or midnight on July 1) and there is NO race-day registration, bib pick-up only.
June 17th and just 17 days until the Walter Hunt 4th of July race! The race is over half full.... register soon if you want to be assured a spot!

We're pleased to announce that the Walter Hunt 4th of July road race is back for 2021! Race registration has been posted to RunSign up, link below in comments as well.
For 2021, race is limited to 200 runners, in wave starts, with NO day of registration. Other details noted on RunSign up.

Racers, parade watchers, volunteers, July 4th revelers ... we will miss you and the race this year! Pandemic aside, it would have been a tough run across the footbridge as the bridge is getting a major renovation (photo is from today!)
