Chris Nelums for Commissioner of Agriculture

Husband, father, businessman, entrepreneur. Candidate for South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture. 🗳 Vote November 8th.

31/10/2022

I believe in a South Carolina where all people come together for a common goal. One that restores our faith in the political process and reestablishes our focus on a sustainable economy for every household. As your next Commissioner of Agriculture, be assured of real change you can feel on day one. When we uplift the least of us, we can uplift all of South Carolina. On November 8th we move our state forward. Get counted.

31/10/2022

These votes are counted. My family has been a tremendous support during our campaign. Say hello to the men in the background doing the heavy lifting.

12/10/2022

They say a 3rd Party candidate cannot flip a seat or beat an incumbent. I say, South Carolina can absolutely do this. I am asking for your vote on November 8th.

Here is the Nelums Plan:

Landowners of at least 5 years who own 50 acres or less, will receive tax relief for a maximum of 10 years. Mute litigation for economically disadvantaged South Carolinians and deploy legal assistance to prevent land loss and property loss.

🗳 Serve as a partner and chief sales person for farmers.
🗳 Provide an equipment leasing opportunity for local farmers.
🗳 Expand the h**p farming industry.
🗳 Work with the current Governor and state legislators across the aisle to decriminalize h**p.
🗳 Ensure infrastructure and logistics for moving commodities across our state and abroad to ensure sales for farmers.
🗳 Bring farming back to schools, with farmpreneurship programs and investing in S**g schools and curriculum.
🗳 Reduce the number of acres required to qualify for farm loans and opportunities.

How one company is making housing material out of a newly legalized crop 06/09/2022

Beautiful, if you asked me. Industrial h**p is a cash crop and agricultural commodity that can restore opportunity for farmers in rural communities. On November 8th, we can make real change households can actually feel.

I thank Timika for the opportunity to speak with Union County Democrats and friends in August. Taking notes from our meeting, I had a reflection about the the momentum of our campaign from week to week. I am always amazed by God's work and I take nothing for granted. At every step and at every turn, I see a stronger South Carolina and it is because of you. I am with you all the way.

There aren't enough young farmers. Congress is looking to change that 02/09/2022

I will change that. We can make farming great again with a focus on community farming, Agriscience and summer programs. I support public education that teaches our youth how to grow food, build farms and protect our environment. The future is in our hands. Let's do this South Carolina.

There aren't enough young farmers. Congress is looking to change that Attracting a younger generation is key to building a sustainable food system, but getting access to land is a huge barrier to entering farming, according to a new survey.

Farming allowed Black and poor whites in the South to be completely self-sustaining. It kept many families from starvation and poverty. My goal is to make farming a viable career for the common man and woman again here in South Carolina. Let's make it happen this November.
