My professional and educational experiences lie at the intersections of science, policy and business, the success of which rests on my collaborative, diplomatic and strategic-thinking abilities.

I’ve held senior leadership roles in 'business of technology’ that included management of multi-million dollar operational budgets, early stage investment funds, and revenue distributions generated from successful commercialization of inventions.

I honed my consensus-building skills as a senior congressional fellow in the U.S. House of Representatives and as a research associate at The National Academies Committee on Science, Engineering and Public Policy.

Did you know last year, nationally, Arizona was one of the worst investors in public education, despite 90 cents of every dollar spent at a district school being spent on kids? And challenges to persevere in a pandemic have only complicated things in 2020. These are a few reasons why I support Proposition 208.

Vote Yes on Prop 208!!

My unequivocal support of public education solidified out of my own experiences growing up in rural Indiana. My family and so many other families in our community were tied economically to the ebbs and flows of the auto-manufacturing industry πŸš— that, for a period of time, offered financial insulation from the fickleness of feeding a family through farming 🚜 your own land.

To cut to the chase, that financial insulation wasn't always there. When that happened, our family had to rely on social safety nets to eat. For a time, I was one of the students in the free/reduced lunch program, and my family ate πŸ₯« because my dad stood in food lines.

I know the impact socioeconomic factors have on your student's education, because I lived it.

I know the importance of dedicated teachers who see a student that due to circumstances beyond her/his control feels unseen, because I lived it.

I also know that a quality public education CAN poise all students to succeed πŸ™Œ, because I lived it.

Times are indeed challenging, but I see just as many opportunities for our students. I'm ready to seize those opportunities for our kids, for our teachers and for our extended SUSD community!

"Please support Libby Hart-Wells as she seeks to represent our students on the SUSD school board.

I was extremely excited when I found out that she was running because I know her personally and therefore I know the type of voice she will be for all stakeholders. She is extremely intelligent and takes time to research issues and give careful consideration before making a decision. She is so kind and she truly cares. She gives of herself easily and she is 100 percent invested in our students and public education.

She studied and trained as a chemist and has held many varied positions; currently she is teaching. She had the experience of witnessing first hand the science literacy gap between students from the US and other countries around the world and she sprang into action to help solve this problem in a way she can be very effective. I have no doubt she will find many other ways to make a difference in this regard as well.

As you can see, Libby is a woman who sees a problem and immediately works to try to fix it. She attended public schools and her children have always attended public schools. She is exceedingly passionate about the public school system.

I am excited to vote for her and I hope you are too."
