Can’t thank ‘Waking Up Ojibwe- Anishinaabemodaa’ enough for gifting us with ALL these books. Recently we have found ourselves in a learning rut which happens and it was like a huge and here’s some amazing motivation. If you haven’t checked out their website go take a look at all the support and amazing resources they have. So incredibly kind and generous and doing such important work we truly thank you. Gimiigwechwenmigoom 💛🧡💛
I drew the teepee and she told me she wanted to colour it in. So I drew just a “smoking rack/drying rack” and she said “needs some fish” (giigoonyag) and drew them and the fire. Must be doing something right considering she’s had no exposure to the process in real life.
Audio won’t upload 😫
I have had a stomach ache waiting to know how cringe I sound ok this interview. But I hope that I’m sharing I may help someone who looks or is experiencing life the same as me ❤️ honoured to have been asked to speak and honoured to do it alongside such a strong and inspiring person as Tsamaxa Toroxa. I have never spoken with her until this interview but her responses were incredible, I wish I was as eloquent. 🔥
Ndagindaasomi. He brought me these books after watching his dad pull out an Anishinaabemowin book. Wiizhnaagozi 🥺🥺

It is not detrimental to expose your child to more than one language. Let’s help erase that stigma.
Elders will say we were fluent in multiple Indigenous languages and dialects long ago.

We found these books while going to language events and purchased along the way. If you haven’t already checked out the two book stores I mentioned previously maybe try just googling “Grassroots Indigenous Multimedia”. I love these books for the illustrations as well as the language 💚
