This 1.5-hour session will focus on safe and effective ways to communicate with children and others who have experienced poverty, trauma, and toxic stress. A trauma responsive relationship is characterized by warmth, safety, trust, and compassion. We will explore the roadblocks to deep listening and consider the impact of our body language, facial expressions, and voice tone. This session will be interactive, while also providing tools and resources that participants can bring to their conversations with everyone, including children.

Pastor Marissa - The Wound (spoken word)
In our recent series of videos, team members have answered why they have gotten involved in conversations around race and reconcilaition. In this piece of spoke word, Pastor Marissa shares her "why."
Be the Bridge groups start today! BUT, it is not too late to join!!! If any part of this piece resonated with you, made a connection or tugged at your conscience, PLEASE sign-up to join us. Register here (https://tinyurl.com/5vhx8y66) or email us at [email protected]
Pastor Scott asks, "Why should I be involved?"
We know that for many, engaging in conversations around race can be uncomfortable. For some, it may even seem irrelevant. Pastor Scott shares about his investment in raising racial awareness and literacy, and why this discussion matters in every context. In our small groups, we aim to create an environment where it is safe to ask the uncomfortable questions as we learn about hard truths. It is for this reason that, our trained facilitators are all FMC pastors and layleaders; and, that our introductory conversations take place seperate groups for white clergy, white laypeople, and people of color. It helps us to prepare for a more diverse and inclusive table when we have set it with common truths and vocabulary. We hope you'll come join us at the table.
