6 years ago today I had a nephrectomy on transplanted kidney I had earlier that year in 2017 . Unfortunately the transplant never worked and a few months after having it I started to become very ill . The kidney had become infected and grew and abscess on it . This was a photo the day after . I have a lot of staples and a couple of drain tubes . People might wonder why I share these things , I share them for multiple reasons … for one to remind myself of the life of death struggles that I have overcome . Hopefully I can also inspire other people going through similar things . No matter how many times I get knocked down I’m always going to get back up .

I would like to introduce “ The Felix Bagel” this bagel is vegetarian friendly 🍃The Nook is one of our favourite breakfast places in the city of Cambridge, Felix is over the moon with them naming a menu item after him ! 🥯🥬🧅🥑

My regular Saturday morning thing is hitting up for some amazing Mexican street food from with my right hand man . I don’t always get the same thing , I like to switch it up but today I got got the classic chicken tacos, the way it’s supposed to be with raw chopped onions, cilantro and their homemade made salsa. So good !! 🌮🌮🌮

My every Thursday lunch after dialysis is a steak sandwich from . They have a bunch of different amazing sandwiches. I love the order and pick up too ! I just text them what I want with a pick up time and they come right out to the car when I get there. If you haven’t tried them , I highly recommend.

Plasmapheresis is a therapeutic intervention that involves extracorporeal removal, return, or exchange of blood plasma or components. The underlying mechanism of this procedure is accomplished by either centrifugation or filtration using semipermeable membranes.

I’ve had over 500 treatments of Plasmapheresis.

I have been following progress for a lot of years now . It looks like trials are off to a great start! As a person with FSGS and having recurrence post transplant I feel like the artificial implantable kidney might be my only hope to finally get off of dialysis .

Today June 14th is world Blood 🩸 Donor Day . Over the last 3 years I’ve had to have over 200 blood transfusions while doing dialysis. Without this unselfish donors I wouldn’t be here today . I’m extremely grateful that we have people out here willing to donate . Real life super hero’s .

4 years ago I received a kidney transplant at St Joseph hospital in Hamilton . When I got the call I was at the mall with my son and ex wife Stephanie Resendes . I was extremely excited as I have been doing dialysis for a long time . Unfortunately this would not be the amazing moment that I thought it would be . The kidney never worked and not only that it grew an abscess on it and I became very ill . The kidney was taken out and I thought that I was on the clear for recovery when I started to have some major breathing issues. It had become so bad that I was hyper ventilating and had to call 911 , when EMS arrived they notice my oxygen levels were in the 40’s . I was rushed to the ER and put on a steroid ventilator that helped my oxygen go back up to 70. The kidney transplant that I received months before had given me a virus that attacked my heart and because my heart was only working at 20% my lungs filled with fluid and I got pneumonia . I spent a couple weeks in ICU . That year ( 2017) I spent almost 3 months in the hospital and it was very traumatic , I thought that I was going to die more then once . Even though this transplant was a traumatic experience for me I’m always pushing and advocating for organ donation ! I think I’m ready to try again 💪🙂 please be a donor .

It’s been 5 years my family lost my brother Henri ❤️ my thoughts today are with everybody including my nephew Ethan and Niece Ashley. Henri was a great older brother and we all miss him so much .

For the last 17 years on kidney dialysis I wake up every day and fight ! 🥊
14 surgeries, 2 organ transplants , 1 Nephrectomy and countless Procedures , these are my battle scars .

This is my wonderful cousin Laura . 12 years ago from tomorrow January 19 , Laura unselfishly gave me the gift of life by donating a kidney to me . The kidney was a great match but because my kidney disease is autoimmune it did return to the kidney that Laura donated to me . I believe if it wasn’t for the recurrence of FSGS that I would probably still be enjoying the health and freedoms that she again unselfishly donated to me . I would also like to mention that because of her I did enjoy 7 to 8 months important months free from a life saving machine to enjoy the birth of my son Felix . There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of Laura and how brave she was to do that for me .
