I am not going to make it to be an old man. I'm not being morbid. I just dont see it. It's okay though. People always tell me that I am brave. I read somewhere that a brave man dies only once, while a coward dies a thousand deaths. I pity cowards.
I had no father growing up, but I was raised to be strong for others. Cowardice, and doing nothing, are concepts that do not compute with me. Ive pulled people out of burning houses. Got into shootouts for complete strangers. Ran across the freeway at night to help change a strangers tire. Carried a pregnant woman who I didnt know out of a perilous situation. I've looked down the barrels of guns, and into the eyes burning with hatred and want that were wielding those weapons and smiled. Ive shed blood for people I never even met. Each time I knew that I couldn't live with myself if I stood by and watched.
I am a doer.
I got bad knees from playing defensive tackle all the way to semi_pro . Its hard for me to kneel.
My Tailbone was injured in a motorcycle accident so,its hard to sit too.
So while I am awake, while I am alive, I stand. I'll lay down when I am dead. And not until- Merc
