What fashion designers in the 50’s thought we’d be wearing in the year 2000! The men’s fashion at the end cracks me up 😂

Day 15 - Mixing it up
When I wear vintage, I usually end up mixing it with modern pieces, like this 60/70s top and 60s Vera scarf paired with shorts from

I’ve fallen behind on the challenge so I’m playing catch-up this week! I don’t have many clothing styles dating earlier than the 40´s so for the following eras, I’ve decided to show off some jewelry that I have from those times!
Day 10 - or earlier
Day 11 -
The first photo are some family heirlooms that I inherited that date from the 1800’s / early 1900’s. The bracelet has a patent date of Dec. 16 1879 and the ring is what I believe to be a Victorian mourning. It has the initials R.H.H inscribed on the back. Traditionally, it would hold a lock of hair but I can’t tell what’s behind the glass as it’s condensed over time. I wish I knew who these belonged to - they came from my dad’s paternal side but whoever would have known has long ago passed.
The second photo is a necklace that was given to me by my partner for my birthday a few years ago. The pendent is from the 1930’s. Funny thing, we hadn’t known each other more than 9 months at that point and he already knew my style ♥️

Day 7 - PURPLE/VIOLET 💜
Vintage loungewear is so glam ✨
This housecoat dress is a wounded beauty that I found on Etsy. I just loved the pattern and I knew there were rips in the fabric but I didn’t know there was a massive hole near the bottom that is virtually unfixable 👎🏻
What do you think, should I shorten this dress into a mini and patch up the small rips or leave as is?

Day 6 - BLUE 💙
Baby blue top is vintage (along with this adorable bow at the front, it also has a button down back instead of a zipper) - I’m a sucker for cute details!

🍊Orange/Yellow 🍋
Today was a crazy day with work and I didn’t have time to dress up so I’ll throw it back to last autumn when my partner and I were living in Toronto and we did a day tour of Fort York!
I’m wearing my favourite mod sweater jacket that I thrifted in back in the UK and my dad’s old greek fisherman’s cap. Funny, I used to wear this cap all the time in high school and then forgot all about it!
Day 3 of with and is RED!
I actually don’t usually gravitate towards red but when I saw this late 1940s/50s 49er style jacket from , I absolutely fell in love - the bandana collar is adorable!
I don’t own any basic 40’s/50’s style bottoms so I paired this jacket with some black mom jeans.
I’m a sucker for florals and I have to thank my mum for surprising me with this gorgeous one-of-a-kind coatigan for my 30th birthday! She’s a slow-fashion designer based in Toronto and I honestly want EVERYTHING she makes! 🌸
Day 2 of with , and is Throwback!
Let’s go back in time to 16/17 year old Katelyn at her high school’s “Oscars” night!
Besides the crispiness my hair-sprayed victory rolls, I actually still love this look! My hair went through many colours and styles through-out high school and this was definitely one of my more toned down looks!
In high school, I was definitely considered to have my own sense of style ranging from punk, emo/scene and 40’s/50’s pinup. I wore a lot of thrifted clothing and while I wasn’t bullied out right for it, I did overhear a lot of comments from those outside of my circle of friends on my “weird” clothes. By grade 11, my style more or less mellowed out to fit in with my peers but I still found influence in these areas of fashion. Today, I still change my style quite often and have recently become influenced by 60’s mod!

Day 1: You, in a Nutshell
👋🏻Hi, I’m Katelyn (for all my newer followers) and I am the owner of . I live in Ottawa, Canada with my British expat partner and chunky cat named Bertie🐱
I’ve always had a fascination with history and loved thrifting for finds since my early teens (definitely before is was considered “cool” to wear other people’s clothes 😂) and actually had the idea to start selling back in 2018. However, life gets busy as it does and I didn’t have a chance to really pursue my passion until I got laid off in 2020 due to this pesky pandemic. As you’ve probably noticed, I’ve taken a bit of a break again from selling again - we moved back to my hometown in February and I started a new job - I hope to be able to find the time to get back to it soon! I’m so happy I took the dive to do this though because I’ve met some awesome people on here and various Facebook groups who finally share my passion of fashion history! 👗
